There seems to be a couple companies that make chrome steelies and these are okay, but I’d like a set of cones for the center caps but I don’t know if one company’s caps would fit on another. These are USA made and have CT&W stamped on them.
Trivia: The name Cragar is a shortening of the founders first and last names. Crane Gartz We should at least respect his contribution to out heritage by getting his name correct.
Hah! Not as in single center fastener but as a cheaper copy or imitation. But, I suspect you know that.
Look at the inside picture from the Summit link above. Says "Made in the USA" and CT&W....They're Cragars. Also notice they have 3 bumps for a flush baby moon style cap (or smoothie cap).
Those are some ugly, cheap, and non-traditional wheels. If you want chrome steel wheels, at least look for some with the proper (and only the proper) bolt pattern. And hopefully they have side vents.
As far as I know, the Cragar brand is currently owned by another company. That company is now known as The Carlstar Group. Prior to that it was known as Carlisle Tire and Wheel, often shortened to CT&W. https://www.carlstargroup.com/news/...io of solutions, wheels and Marastar® products.
Well I let my smart phone know that according to a grammar Nazi who felt I offended the hot rod Gods when I bothered to reply and identify a member's wheel correctly and post link but got a single letter wrong it was a big problem . LMFAO
A lot of the smoothie wheels take a 7.5" center cap and use the three internal bumps to hold them on . Need to measure the rim across the center. I just found this out the hard way when my 40 caps don't fit .
Almost all of my family that was not able to escape Europe in the 1930's to 1940's was killed by the Nazis. I am part of the only surviving branch of my family. The only branch that escaped. Using that term lightly diminishes the impact of what it is associated with, and increases the likelihood of historical repetition. You did not get a letter wrong. You added one, and got another one wrong. Not even close. That's not even grammar. The way I was raised, spelling or speaking a man's name wrong shows utmost disrespect. To-date, if you find anyone on the entire planet with my last name, we are related. So yes, we take names very seriously. Words have meanings. Names have even more profound meanings. Don't make things worse by continuing to dig the hole.
Most modern smoothies are 7.5" with 3 bumps 40 ford wheels take 8 1/8" and 4 bumps. I have got both. Easy to check which it takes.
Enough BS! Dig a hole ? If you had taken half the time to actually take the time to help the Op vs going out of your way to try and hand out insults and school me we would not be here . Don't need a history lesson or a any BS . My family had members die fighting in a foreign county to help your family out and had they not you would likely be speaking German. I Didn't come here to be insulted or talked down to after helping . I spoke into a phone and did not check what it spelled out . SORRY . You feel this deserve a gilt filled lecture post ? Generally on most sites just posting a link only is frowned on so I added some text that was spelled wrong . I recognized the wheel took the time to look up a link with a picture and post it only to be hit with some guy trying to give spelling lessons and now some shaming using your family as a excuse . The word you should be looking for are THANK YOU . Get over it. It's now a few letters. I don't need your BS and shaming when I helped and got it right . I realized your a respected member and all that but if a spelling error gets this sort of BS then who want to reply?. No disrespect was meant to Cragar,You the site or Hot rod gods or whoever makes these crappy wheels . Perhaps show some respect to guys trying to help here ! Im here to talk cars not spelling or your family that is way off limits IMO . I won't go there . PEACE
According to the HAMB experts, the smoothie, no hole chrome wheel appeared around the mid 60s If so, they’re more traditional than a 350 Chevy many don’t like the look. I dig em on the right car/style build. Skinny whitewalls? mmmmmmmm Yep The “it’s got too many lug holes”? Well I guess that’s what the hub cap is for.
Cragar is not the only making wheels with the scallops around the lug holes . I suspect a couple companies use the same center. These are off my 27T 14x7. The came in a Wheel Vintiques box but do not match current offerings and I'm not 100% the box was for these from the factory. 7.5" internal nub cap . I don't think the caps are the same as actual 40 ford. My rims have CRC on them . ???
I’d put studs in the extra holes and run 10 lug nuts just to see people scratching their head trying to figure out what kind of rear end it was!
