History What company produced the first traction bars for leaf spring and what year??

    Early 60's Traction Master was making them, but can't say if there weren't ones before that
    Now that I think about it Genuine Suspension of Santa Ana CA had them even before that.

    If I remember correctly, Southside Machine (SSM) literature claimed to have started making 'lift bars' in 1959 for rear coil spring cars, and I believe they claimed 1963 for leaf springs, or vice versa. Could be wrong though, it's been a while, and the company dissappeared about 10 years ago.

    I think it was Traction Masters, late 50's early 60's.

    just looked at Traction Master's site (YES they are still in business) and they say since the 50's

    I purchased a set of Traction Masters for my '55 Chevy in 1956.
