    senior year 1979
1970 Charger 500, 383 Magnum, Auto, p/s, p/b, air, buckets, console, and the requisite Craig Powerplay. By the time I got though "fixing' it I would get get 8 mpg if I behaved myself, usually it was around 4mpg.
13.90s@110mph through the mufflers on Daytona Sport 60s.

    $600 in 1962.

I added the wheels. The "Chrome Reverse with Spiders" trend was just starting and rarely seen on the streets of Kansas City at that time. A few months later. I turned the tires around with the black side out....kind of a whitewall backlash as the blackwall era started.

Moved to WA from AK just before senior year.....all the cool guys in AK had musclecars, this is late 80's....some freind's had '66 Chevelle SS396, '64 Impala SS, '70 GTX, and the baddest was Haskell's '70 383 Superbee/4spd....that sucker was fast. I had my '68 Charger R/T.
Senior year,1990/1 in WA, all the guys had fuckin' minitrucks (that trend hadn't hit AK yet, AK is @ 5-8 years behind the times)......I still had my Charger though.:D

Heres a picture of me with my 53 Chevy Convertible. It was Candy Blue with a white top. It had a split exhaust manifold with four chromed 4 ft straight pipes hanging under the rearend from Scotty's Muffler.

  5. '67 Impala, sort of a candy looking red metallic. Lowered about 2". A Holley spread bore 4bbl on a Q-jet iron manifold, Hooker headers, glass packs, "70 series tires" on 14" black steel rims with stock Impala hubcaps, and a Motorolla 8-track with 3.2 watts per channel! It had huge bench seats. I put Caprice taillights on it to be different. Perfect car for the drive-in movies and endless cruising. I loved that car.

Had a 30 Model A Tudor B/Comp car that was never finished, had a solid mount full floater, body tilted back "like the orange crate",except for 6"x6" double ugly plate pivots bolted through the body.Had a plumber pipe roll bar(square),First time I set up steering ,turned left, went right.Figured that out quick.Had several partners on it,we mostly towed it around town working on it,and looking cool.Ended up cut down to be the cab of a jeep.Still,it was fun, learned something. Recently had a laugh reading about the magazine types who had trouble getting someone to" build "them a tow bar, that's all we used for years, thought that was what wishbones were for....

  10. Class of '59. Had a 55 Chev 210 2dr, 3 on da tree. Put 3 2's on it and a "full race" cam from Montgomery Wards. Baddest ride at Lebanon High in Lebanon MO. Buddy had a 58 Chevy convertible with a 4bbl and he wanted my 3 2's so he gave me some boot and we traded. I still whipped his butt! Another kid had his dad's 57 Ford w/ 312 and Ford O Matic. Not sure I could have whipped him. There were rides in Springfield that were bad ass. I didn't mess with them. In my Jr. year I had a 56 Studebaker Golden Hawk that was bad too but went to Frishie's High Boy in Springfield and a dude in a 53 Studebaker with an Oldsmobile motor in it whipped my butt bigh time. I didn't much like going to Springfield after that .. !! ... Ahhhh, back in the day ... !!

'86 Iroc-Z. I worked my ass off bagging groceries to pay for that stupid thing! Sold it to buy a 69 Camaro over that summer before going to college.

  13. I inhereted a '84 Mustang when I got my permit. It had the 4cly in it for exactly 6 months then I built a 302 for it, I was only 16 years old. I drove that for a while, shifted through a few $100 or less beaters and bought a red t-top 5spd mustang GT when I was a senior. I also bought a Yamaha motorcycle. All with my own $$. I drove the mustang until my last year of college and sold it for more than I paid for it. I still own the '84. It hasn't seen the road in almost 10 years but I am slowly building my collection of parts including late model 5 lug 4 wheel disc conversion, a F4TE 351W roller block which is stroked to a 406, and I have a TKO500 trans for it as well. Sooner or later all the parts will go together and I will be 16 again. Not that cool in this crowd, but I still own my first car which is cool in my book.

  14. I had a 69 Impala Custom 2 door hardtop with a 327 3 spd automatic Blue body, white vinyl roof and a black and white interior. Jacked up a bit with Gabriel Hijackers, Vette rims with trim rings and derbys.Grill blacked out with amber fog lights in behind. It was a beautiful car and the cops had a hard time believing that a 17 year old kid could have a nicer car than what they drove personally. Cruising around with Deep Purple in Rock cranked in the 8 track.....

I drove a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A 340 6pak, I bought it for $2100 back in 1986,( graduated 1987 ) it had 53000 miles on it. Alot of people wish they would have kept the cars they drove back in high school, I still have that Challenger today.

    Class of 1988...
Started the year with a 66 Mustang coupe with a HOT 289/Stick combo.
I was going to go away to college in the fall, so I sold the 'Stang and bought a brand new ranger pickup. I drove it to school that Monday with the sticker still in the window and no plates yet...STOCK. I drove it again Friday that week just the same...only SLAMMED to the ground with dropped axles a flip kit in the rear and custom wheels. I had the only lowered vehicle at school, also the only new one.
I was working on my 40 all through HS. I built a bunch of stuff for it in metal shop. I even brought the chassis into auto shop class to rebuild the brakes and stuff on it.

  17. dropped out at 10th grade....never made it to senior year....but most seniors envied me..had some of the coolest cars around the hood...and always cruised the schools with the baddest chicks in the area.....

1970 chevelle SS 454 (425 hp) cowell induction, M-21, 3:73 possie traction. Red car with black SS stripes and black interior. My dad had a 1970 Elco SS with 396 (325 hp) TH400, 4:10 possie traction, same color combo at the same time. I would trade off driving both of them to school. Fun times, lots of street racing and scaring the s*it out of my friends. Before the '70 I had a '66 SS396 Chevelle with 365 hp, M-21 and 3:73 possie traction.

My car was not cool by the HAMB standards, but my buddies and I thought it was. The car was a 1979 Chevy Caprice four door with a 305 V8. I cut the exhaust off the first day I owned it and I ran the shit out of that car.

55 Chevy Bel Air 2dr sedan with a 235 6cyl that whooped every SBC around (except one I wouldn't race, 400 or so HP.) Of course, back then there weren't that many realy fast SBC's in my home town (1965.) It sure was fun surprising those guys. I think the 4.11 rear end helped. Oh yeah, it beat all the 6's in town, too. Small town in TN.

Berkner High School (Richardson Texas) Class of 1990...

I was among 3000 kids there and I was 1 of probably 10 greasers in the whole effin' place.

My first car was bought from the son-in-law of the original owner...a '64 Pontiac Tempest coupe. Like a [very] stupid kid, I sold it.

Man I sure wish I knew where it is today...:(

    Morris Minor for everyday use.
Don't laugh, my other car was a street legal max wedge, track record holding super stocker that we did occasionally drive on the street. The few times some hot shots thought they had the baddest car, I'd take my Mom's 440 GTX would beat anything else in school.

Class of 74. Spent all year building a 68 Barracuda Fastback, Black on black. Wicked built little 273 out of a 67 S car, rev to 7 grand no problem, 4 speed, 4.56 sure grip rear. Drove it to high school the last month of senior year, couldn't afford exhaust yet, open headers. Big hole in the floor to clear the Hurst Super shifter, kinda loud and exhaust fumes inside, the girls didn't like to ride in it! Like a lot of you, wish I still had it, good times.

  29. I graduated from Chaney High in Youngstown, OH in 1985.

I drove a 1976 Datsun 280Z, silver with black stripes across the door valance, black bra, black rear window visor, and aluminum slotted rims wrapped in huge Dunlop Qualifier GTs!

It was so fast with that fuel injected straight six. I beat the living daylights out of that car. Twisted the rear axle twice and on numerous occasions made the brake rotors glow bright orange!
