I drove my '56 Buick special wagon. Second owner, bought it with my paper route money I had saved, got it running with my grocery store money. It was pretty clean.. It's in the garage right now.

  6. 1948 Dodge Convertible. Radical kustom with a gennie Carson Top, Edsel Grill, 56 Vette tailights, 55 pontiac bumpers 1956 Chevy 256 with (2) 4's Chroem everything and beautiful Tuck'N'Roll. Straight out of the little pages, all done in lead. Bought it from a buddy who brought it from California, then swapped him back a coupel years later for the '49 Merc I chopped. Oh this was not in the 50's or 60's either. My Mustang and Camaro buddies thought I was weird for not buying stereo amps and fuel injection junk, Ha,ha . Idiots! Steve from PEI owns it now and I hear it will be on the road again this coming summer, right Steve???

  8. Graduated in '70 back when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, don't know how bad my rides were but they were the same ones I have now, Henrietta the '38 Ford pickup and Ozelle the '55 Ford. The '55 is a Fairlane Town Sedan (4 door) with 272 2 barrel and 3 on the tree.

  9. Class of 86- A little over my head for 17,but made for hella fun. Learned A LOT! I guess it fueled the fire a little more. Bassically untouchable....454 chevelle's,396 camaro's,455 pontiacs....It was a crazy scene at school and no one was even close.... A true L-79 car once upon a time.

No pics of it. But it was a black 57 chevy hardtop, high boy. Running a 300 horse 327 with a bread box tunnel ram, twin 4 barrels, muncie 4 speed, and 456 gears. DAMN I wish I had that car back...John

My senior year I had a 70 Cuda 440/ hemi 4spd dana rear, headers, big 4bbl . I also had a 46 Chevy sedan delivery 283/ powerglide and a 46 Ford 2dr sedan with a 289 /c4. 3 cars my senior year. Wish I had all 3 back. My uncle bought the 46, I trade the delivery to my dad when I started a family, he sold it 10 years later to a paint /body shop. The Cuda got lost to a guy that was a numbers matching restorer. I was young and stupid then, now I older and still love anything old.

Wayzata, MN Class of '78. I was working at Herbs service garage 4 nights a week and saterdays. Didn't have a girlfreind to waste $ on till after I graduated so I could spend all my dough on cars and I had a driveway full. I had a 66 F-100 with a 240/4 speed, a 63 VW bug that I beat the crap out of in the woods and feilds. For speed thrills I had a 67 Couger 390 GT automatic that I got for $375. With a little tweaking I had it running 14.60's at Northstar Dragstrip. I was looking for an old convertable, but they were had to find cheap unless they were junk. On September 17, 1977, I ended up getting a 48 Plymouth Convert in good driving shape. That set me back an even $1000. My dads freind, Steve Isaccson had remembered looking at the car when it was for sale way back in 1970 for $1000 and kept the guys number. When we called, he still had it and it was still for sale for $1000. (I guess the guy was FIRM on the price, huh?) I put porta-walls on it, and went out to Silver Lake junkyard and pulled an overdrive out of a 53 Plymouth wagon and put it in the convert. That set me back $15. Had the flathead up to 100 mph on highway 12, the speedometer light turns purple when it hits 100.
Then I paid $600 for another 67 couger that the the seller convinced me had a 427 in it. Time would prove it to be a 390.:( The good news is that I was able to buy the entire driveline out of a 69 Torino 428 Drag Pack car for $500, and swapped the motor, the 4 speed, the 4.11 9" into the couger, with a tripower of a T-bird. Got it into the 12's, (but not till after I graduated)
I still have the 48 Plymouth, but the rest of them are long gone. Lots of good memories!:)

Heres the 48 and me upon graduation:

Here is the CobraJet powered Couger in the staging lanes at Northstar. I'm on the left in the photo:

    Cool, another 56 buick wagon!
My brother got a 56 Century wagon during his senior year in '75. We had that pencil stripe speedo buried one day down on hwy 52. :D
When the brake drums got wrecked and he couldn't find replacements in about '78, he parked it and it's been sitting ever since. He still owns it, but it's at my place behind the barn.

Had a '48 Ply 2 door sedan the spring of '68. The rods went out this side of Coffeeville and Lefty came out and drug me in. The car's gone but Lefty's still around, just not in the wrecker business any more.

  29. Class of 2000 at Santa Ana HS. Drove a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker. My first car. It had a 331 Hemi. It really stood out in the parking lot, but was usually in auto shop class getting stuff done and learning on it. Lots of memories in that car.

None of my cars were "cool". My Pimp wagon was my 64 Pontiac Grand Prix. But I miss the 57 International S body 4X4 the most.
