I just got home from my work trip and since I could not make the trip I was wondering what everyone ran? Which HAMBer gets to claim having the faster street car? and fastest race car?
Who drove the furthest to get there? (Without getting lost and going in a loop through Utah like Denise did..)
I was just a little faster that the 18-wheeler that ran Friday night...19.47....with a blistering 1.07 reaction time...but what do you expect from a custom with a six??? Brian
2500 miles round trip. At 3:00pm when we left, no one had beat my 13.40 in street class. Ryan was blazing the tires pretty good..I imagine if he ran after the sun went down he'da kicked my ass. Had a good ass time and got to meet a SHIT LOAD of cool people. I'll be there with the bottle on next year. I JUST got home, by the way. Spent a few days up north with my buddies and my folks. Glad to be home..long ass drive. A plum fuckin wore out, -Abone.
I ran a 14.08 @ 96.84 in my coupe. Lot's of room for improvement on both my reaction time and the car. I was just getting used to the pro tree when my block leak got bad enough to keep me off of the track.
FlamedABone were you sc/29, last name George by any chance??? If so, it was suppose to be me and you for the run off in our class. Your A woulda kicked Big Olds butt, but it still would have been fun to do. They kept calling you name and number as I sat up there all alone patiently waiting for you to arrive. Whats a girl to do??? Big Olds 15.80 @ 84 MPH
my best time was 14.28 at 100.26 with a horrible 1.10 rec. time. not to bad, its been a year and a half since the last tune-up and it has 3.00 rea ratio.
Flamed, ya left about an hour too early... I still didn't get all the traction I wanted, but I managed a 13.26 at 112 mph... Still wasn't good enough for Gas Coupe though. You remember that kinda cheasy red '34 coupe? He turned a 10.29 for the second fastest et of the day - that car should have been a competition coupe. Here's how the Gas Coupe class finished: GC43 = 10.29 128.82mph (red 34) GC27 = 12.99 107.42mph (Name was Huffman) GC05x = 13.26 112.53mph (Me) GC40 = 13.28 108.33mph (no idea who this was) GC21 = 13.40 101.46mph (flamedabone) GC4 = 13.60 97.50mph (no idea who that is either) GC04x = 13.77 97.08mph (John Kimbrough) GC08 = 13.93 98.50mph (Hakes) And the rest were over 14 secs...
My car ran like crap. 15.20 something at 94. almost a full second off what I ran last time out. I was floating the points and my carb was'nt hep to the 105 degree heat. Never stops me from having fun though. No time for tuning when you make 21 passes!
My best run in the Red Rambler was a 21.8920 E.T. at a blistering 56.66 mph... Hey! I had tire shake! One run had a reaction time of 0.71 seconds...my brother said it was very good..for a loser.
Well, Ryan, I don't think I could'a beat your little Chevvie motor on ANY day..that sumbitch was fast. No matter what my car ran, I had a GOOD GODDAMN TIME!!!!! And, I think everybody made it home ok. PS. Denise..George is the last name of my fellow Pharaoh, Willie George, who posts under the name Pontiacguy when he can get his computer to work. (drivin a really ugly 48 Chevvie) He says if you want that trophy, come and TAKE it from him next year. By the way, Didn't you get the "Smoked The Tires All The Way Down The Track" award? That Olds packs some torque, no? See ya, -Abone.
Flamer, glad to see the heap make the trip there and back.... Looks like its was a fun time... What was the altitude of the track.. I would have thought there were be some 12's in the street class, especially Ryans. I know Flamers ride seems faster then a 13.40....
Flamed A Bone you rascal. What kind of a low life would borrow a helmet from someone and then run .07 faster, just fast enough to catch me in the lights after being ahead through most of the quarter? Thats like loaning someone money to play poker with you and then they take all your money. It was a great run and thanks for the fun. If I would have got a little better bite, been a little faster on the tree, shifted at a higher RPM, changed gears to a low rear end ratio and you had been slower, I would have beat you.
What ET and speed did Ryan's Dad's Turbo Mercedes do? How did it place in it's "class"? (yes, this is a serious question. I'm really curious.)
It went 13's, Doc...I saw it myself but didnt'get an egg-sact E.T. BTW, I kept the skull shift knob when I sold the Ramblin Rambler to Fatass whitewalls...
[ QUOTE ] I think it was a 13.31 @ 105 on the Benz. I believe it is supercharged not turbo. [/ QUOTE ] So, Ryan eventually beat Dad's time then?!? [ QUOTE ] BTW, I kept the skull shift knob when I sold the Ramblin Rambler to Fatass whitewalls... [/ QUOTE ] I was wondering...It's cool either way...It would have just had a new foster parent.
AMG Merc ran a 13.31 @ 105mph with the a/c on and the trunk full of my mom's luggage... Top speed is verified at over 190 mph. Blown 270 cube v8 puts out close to 500 hp.
It was impressive to watch. Der Benzwagen nicht schmoken ze tyre und the 38 of Ryan's was fighting for traction with the hokey ass slicks going up in smoke. Der Benzwagen liften der leff frontt tyre und SCHPLITT! Nix/nien drama! Yust GO! Ryan's 38 hunted for a way to go, fishtailing to the left, then to the right, all the time shaking in anticipation of the rights to the fastest black car on premises owned by a Cochran.. Oh, the HUMANITY! It was all over in 13.3 seconds, folks, with the elder Cochran sipping a chilled pina colada at the end of the strip under his "Cochran Big Boy" [TM] plastic folding camping/picknic table with cheezy umbrella [available in yellow and blue or yellow and red at your favorite Walmart outlet[TM]] and listening to a Farante and Tiechure rendition of "Wipe Out" on his Compressorwagen's "Grundig" stereo when Ryan came limping up in his completely exhausted 38 ford American hot rod, smoke still wafting from under his rear wheelwell while the hokey ass slicks picked up everything laid down on the 135 degree racing surface in the last 33 years and deposited it inside the fenders for safekeeping.[gasp] It was awful........the rodding world was set back 67 years with one fateful race. Look for a rematch next year after Ryan hunts down a "Kompressor" to bolt atop his 424 Reher Morrison/Dale Earnhardt Mercerdes Killer......... Oh, it's not over yet......
clarence ran 20.2xxx both runs; i believe the speed was right at 70. only thing i probably could have beaten was the mini bikes. sure was fun, though. might have given rocky a run for his $$$ after he started having problems.
