Long time lurker first time poster! I just bought what I hope is what I've always wanted, however some of the pieces aren't adding up, so if you guys could tell me what I have I would greatly appreciate it! I bought a trailer load of stuff this is just a portion of what was in it.

Now my issues, the doors have no handle hole, and by looking to the interior panel, haven't been filled it appears...the decklid is the same, but seems to be the correct width. The parts in the pile on the floor, what are the stamped metal parts? And the triangle pieces with the studs?

    Any and all help over what I got myself into are 100% appreciated! IMG_20190102_180822.jpeg IMG_20190102_180755.jpeg IMG_20190102_180808.jpeg IMG_20190102_180835.jpeg IMG_20190102_180858.jpeg IMG_20190102_180917.jpeg IMG_20190102_181115.jpeg IMG_20190102_181121.jpeg

Stand back and take a picture that contains the entire body. I don't know what you think it is or what you were told it was cause you didn't say, but it sure doesn't look like a ford if that's what you were hoping it was.

You bought yourself a lot of work.
    '33 '34 Dodge/Plymouth I think.
    Ford flathead V-8
Might look again for the filled holes. Depending on if it was a deck-lid or rumble-lid...latch would be at front or rear of panel.

And of course, doors open at front so look for the hole at the rear.
    '33/'34 Dodge/Plymouth coupes are cool.

  14. Those doors look homemade. The triangle pieces w/stud are rumble seat hinges.

I'm just curious what exactly it is, to tell you the truth at this point. Because I'm grasping at straws to put all these puzzle pieces together.

I obviously knew what the 59a/b was, the 2 barrel carbs etc, but there was so much misc stuff here that I have zero idea. received_1701744296596987.jpeg

Sold as Ford project. You hit exactly what I'm wondering... If someone scabbed a 32ish top to an A and was going to try and pawn it as a 32.

so, how much did you pay for this "cheap & easy " project? there is a article in February 2019 issue of Street Rodder about a guy that had a easy project chopped Model A coupe - ended up at a shop that said the chop was so bad could not be saved - ended up buying a new re-pop roof, cowl, etc for a '32 and more - hope that you have $$, space, skills, friends, tools, etc to do your project right

Not an A. Look at the door surrounds.

Not 32 price if that's what You're asking

I 100% just wanted to know what all had been thrown together here. Bought for the engine and a few other misc items.

Time, space, money, and tools are zero issue. I own my own repair ahop, love hot rods, and have never had anything pre '65 (the 65 being a original 289/3 speed mustang) wanted to dabble into hot rod body work (chop, channel etc) to see if I could do it, just a challenge, I get sick of working on this new junk day in and day out, wanted something to come home and piddle with when I felt like it.

F'n A!!! nice project! IT's a hot rod project! ditch the flat head, find a Chevy or Ford that runs. Get it running and driving and work on it when you have time. Don't buy a bunch of stuff till you need it!

I'm leaning towards a chopped 33/34 plymouth. The quarter windows appear to be filled in. I'm not sure if it's got a different roof scabbed on or if it's the absence of the quarter windows that's throwing me off. Pretty sure it's not a Dodge unless someone messed with the firewall. Dodge had an extended firewall. This one doesn't. There should also be a hole that's been filled where the coil would go.
Overall it looks like a LOT of work and money.

Thank you! I plan to enjoy this build! But I'm sticking with a Flathead! Something about a 3x2 with aluminum heads and lake pipes makes me breathe heavy.

Still would like to know what this Jalopy is though!

The body line appears to small to be Dodge to me. 32 Plymouth looks close, but appears to not have as much cowl

It sure looks like much of it was hand formed. They did have a slice of a cowl near the firewall, and maybe some of the body sill. The sides of the cowl and that short body reveal seem to be hand done.

The doors are hand formed from scratch. The roof skin likely is a donor piece of metal, but the rest of the roof all looks hand done.

The stuff that could clean it up as far as proportions: The windshield header is just too tall...but, the door windows are too tall also. I'd chop the top to get rid of that ugly W/S header...(you'd be, in a way, moving the top of the windshield frame opening up, to reduce the height of the header). Then chop the door windows to the same amount...I'd bet it would look a lot cleaner.

    Carry on

older thread that is within a few pages of your thread that you might want to look through to possibly find a firewall, etc that looks like yours - lots of different kinds of rides -" LET'S SEE YOUR PROJECT CAR"

You got me to looking around. You're right. Not 33/34.
The cowl does resemble 32 Dodge and Plymouth. Not sure what model (s) may have had suicide doors but it looks like that's what it had. The 32 was also a 3 window. Does it have a dash? Any more pictures of the inside and back side?

Looks like the firewall was simply hacked out.
