History What did people think of tail fins back when they were new?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by RaginPin3Appl3, Jul 4, 2016.

  1. I'm too old to get worked up over much of anything anymore, but I think Gary and I are in sync with how my generation and whatever today's generation viewed life in the 50's.. " Police called to third grade cl***room when child accused by another for serving Brownies. Said it was racist." Lord, help us. Always looked forward to that wonderful September day when my buddies and I would skip school to be at the dealership when the paper came off the showroom windows. Grabbing all the brochures and snacks we could before walking to the next one. I loved the fins and still do. Can't say on that day of September I saw even one ugly car. But hey! Where did the Mini Skirts go? I guess they were just a style fad too.

It wasn't just fins that had crazy styling features - look at this 1960 Plymouth steering wheel

My '64 Marauder is 19.5 feet long, and the FINS are 20 feet! They go down over the front fenders another 6 inches. I think they are the longest fins of any American production car......Anybody know of longer ones?
