Dont know why but my wife always names my cars right after i get them. She has picked "The Tank","Ghost",and "Louie".My painter named another car of mine "The Rat". Guess i never get to name them myself.
It used to be "El Cabron" when it was flat black and all thrown together. But as soon as I get mine painted white this summer it's getting a new name "Pearl Necklace" Bob
"Mabel"...after my "adopted" grandmother. She's a great old gal and a hoot to hang around. She's a little bit older than my Ford but she still has alot of spark...and love's the fact that my hot rod is named after her. She even thought my "hood ornament" from the picture was riot too.
My 38 chevy coupe.....'The Coupe' Wifes Buick roadmaster wagon.........'The Wagon' My chevy truck.........'The Truck' Like I said before, I dont name anything I may have to shoot.
You should have just named it "Bubbles", considering Bubbles alter-ego is the Green *******. Some of us watch Trailer Park Boys.
Best story I ever heard on this topic: Two guys are working on their drag car. They're goofing around trying to come up with a name for it. The wife pokes her head out and hears the conversation and says, "How about BARELY MARRIED." and shuts the door. I though, if I ever got married, again and started drag racing, that would be a great name.
The Dingbat... that was my 27 coupe, the roadster is called The Litter Box because a neighborhood cat kept ****ping in it while it was on the side of my house.
I'll never forget the January 1957 Car Craft cover car of Duane Steck's Moonglow (hence my screen name) but since I lived so long in North Carolina where many of the original NASCAR drivers had occupations delivering a certain illegal substance, and also because the car is black, I call mine "Moonshine."
Never really given it a name, although I have called it a few when it breaks down. Wife calls it "my baby", guess that's why I don't want to let her go. But just like kids, one day it has to go if I am to keep my sanity.
My wife named my 64 cady Merline, and my 33 ford pickup Buster. I dont know why, but I like the names.
All cars are Old NellyBelle...... mine, yours, everyones. That way when I brake check my buddies riding along, I can yell "Whoa Nelly" like Yosemite Sam.
I call my 1960 Coupe Deville "GENEVIEVE" after my wifes grandmother, even though I never met the real genevieve, but after hearing some stories about her I wish I would have met her ! I love when my wife and I are in the Cadi together and it's named after her grandmother !
When I got my 48 F1 it needed a few parts - ok, a lot of parts. After watching me collect them all over the US and Canada, my wife got to laughing about the truck being similar to the old tv commercial "Parts is parts!) The truck promptly became "Wendy" and my wife took great pleasure in people's reactions when she'd tell them, "Oh he's out someplace fooling around with Wendy".
here's mine the black smudges are balls of burnt rubber. this photo was taken after a burnout contest .
My friends back in high school in the '70s called my car "The Love Machine" because I spent a lot of time in the back seat at the drive-in movies.
one of my favorites was a buddy's '59 ford ragtop--think he paid about 25 bucks for it--had the factory coral/charcoal paint combo. he called it "the pink *****."
