Thats a cool Model Y. I used to have an old Fordson with the 1172 motor - slow as sin - but I loved it. I tried to buy a Y years ago but missed out.

Anyway the weekend - Let the Project Begin - on Saturday I started pulling apart the sedan delivery on and making a list of work and parts needed. Its fair to say that it needs a lot more work than I expected - rust repairs and fixing shoddy prior work.

My thought is to have it on the road by next summer as a safe runner (probably without final paint). I bought a mig and am teaching myself to weld so I can repair the body rust and fix the general shoddy/dangerous parts.

Heres some pics of the chev as it stands now with front end sheet metal removed and the kind of workmanship I need to redo - in this case its the steering column where it goes through the firewall and the bracket looking up under the dash (that bolt is the steering wheel mount). There are a lot of things like this on the list to redo (or perhaps do in the first place as they arnt really "done"), but I think I can get em all done over winter and learn a lot as I go. You can expect some questions and parts wanted ads from me in the forums as well.

    cheers

I lifted the body off the Model A and tore into the chassis. Got it pretty much stripped down to the motor, radiator and front suspension. Probably finish the teardown this weekend and sandblast after that.

Also ripped out part of the ceiling in the house - got bombarded with 200 years of squirrel and mouse stuff, nuts, pine needles and dirt. Hopefully I'll be able to breath right in a few days.

  5. painted my motor finally.

After the last couple weekends working on the coupe, I owed it to the wife to work in the yard. So I hacked at the jungle until the chain saw's chain said enough. That took about three hours. Too much metal fence and wet wood.

As far as coupe related work - fianlly got the newly dipped seat all wleded up and skim-coated with filler so I can paint it.

I also adjusted the clutch pedal so the pad height matches the brake.

Hopefully, the seat will be in color next weekend.

I put new Jamco leaf springs on and drove to Billetproof. No heat, air, or radio, bias plies and 4000 lbs for seven hours solo. It was one of the greatest days of my life!

I picked this up for my 53 chevy truck Black Betty.

I went to the Springfield MO swap meet (The weekend of the drags) and scored a gas tank with new sender and a 235 for my truck that I have put off for years putting together. And of all my projects this one means the most to me. Now I just need a radiator.........

This weekend I went the A&M v. Army game in San Antonio. What a disappointing win. But last weekend was real fun. Resurrected my truck from my parents' driveway.

After three years of immobility vines were actually growing through my wheels and wrapped around the axle. I scraped a solid inch of dirt off the concrete where the jungle had moved in. Sheesh. But I feel tons better now. Should be running by the weekend. (ha! heard that one before huh?)

Finally got my car back home....been stuck down the road since my car keys got stolen in a house robbery.....so broke in the 1/4 vents (no handles/locks)....pulled the steering wheel, cut off the lock, put it back together and fired here up for the first time in 2 months with a spare key discovered at my mums...and got her back home so i can start finishing her off for thes summers' car shows.

Went with my buddy to get a '39 chevy pickup, looked through salvage yards and cleaned up my shop. Also got my welding bottles filled, now Im ready for next weekend already......

  19. Been working on the wife's '69 pick up for the past two weekends.
The drivers door was in need of repair around the upper door hinge. Cut out a replacement piece from a spare door and welded it all in. Then cut and patched a small section along the door bottom. Last I filled the trim holes that I won't be using. Now I'm in the process of priming the door.

Soon it will be time to call Dave for help hanging the door and fitting the rocker.
