Took a bare Y block out of the back of my truck and into the garage, its a 272 block bored to standard 292 bore so I can use the less then 500 mile standard 292 pistons I was given to build me a very reasonable priced shortblock that will eventually go in my 55 sunliner.

Started up the merc, backed it out of the garage. Used it to jump start my son's off topic turd of a car. Put it back in the garage. But it was good to here it running.

Today I put the Hudson on the hoist and gave the front end a grease. Not sure how long ago the last one was but now I document all my services on the hot rod and Hudson.

  9. We got a little more done on the '40 this morning, centered the rear and set the pinion angle, welded the spring saddles, and installed the upper and lower shock mounts along with the shocks. Also changed out the 4.10 pumpkin for a 3.25 pumpkin. Then fit the floor board around the shifter, cut a hole for the new master, and installed the inner door handle mounts & links. Plan to cut up some steel for my press project this afternoon.

I got to practice welding on my brother inlaws 76 duster.
Not really H.A.M.B. material, but it has been a long long long time since my welding classes in school.
My brother inlaw just bought the tweco 141i mig, tig, stick welder. What a joy to practice and relearn welding skills on his pile, and get ready to do a little rust repair on my molly in my avatar.

  16. Kinda slow day; set up a modified '40 Ford parking brake handle on Pat's '54 Chev (yeh, I know a Ford part on Chev), even used a '40 equalizer underneath. Now it won't roll away when his kid plays with the shifter. Made a little bracket and mounted the horn on my '35 3W, even works. I found a grille emblem in my stuff from the Little Dearborn auction and stuck it on the grille so he knew for sure what he was (maybe getting confused by the sbc under his hood).

In april this year I installed a new set of Stewart Warner wings gauges in a new dash panel, well the first speedo stopped working at 67 miles, called Summit and they sent a new one out, well that one the speedo needle jumped around violently and mileage stopped, called Summit and they sent the third speedo, well this one the mielage stopped at 2000 miles. called Summit and told them I wanted to return the Stewart Warner junk for credit and order the V8 Classic instruments series and the great people customer service at Summit said no problem, So today I install the new gauges and do a litttle wiring, DSC02129.JPG so wish me luck!

I taped my brake tabs onto my T's frame rail. I don't have the lines yet and it may be a little while. I was just bored.

I think I might be heading in that direction, I have had some kind of respiratory flu since I came back from Monroe 3 weeks ago, been housebound for the last two weeks. My wife wanted me to go to emergency a couple nights ago.

Its really kicking my ass. :( Been pretty much couch bound with a blanket for almost two weeks, just starting to get on my feet a little yesterday and today.

  27. Best to go to the doctor before it turns into an emergency room situation. There have been some nasty colds floating around this year.

  28. Spent all morning adjusting the 4 coil overs on the Jag rear axle, test drive proved the rear was raised up enough the annoying tire rub is no longer a problem.

I even loaded up Earl (the mechanic) in the back seat and his 250 lbs never caused any issues. HRP
