Yesterday my carrier bearing failed, so my dad and I replaced it and I loaded it up and drove to the Stockton Swap meet, 140 mile round trip. This is why I put the wagon springs back in it. IMG_20220710_205628.jpg

I drove the Studebaker to a local cruise in Saturday afternoon and got caught in the rain at the end of the day. No hood, no windows , no wipers, no problems, But all was well the RainX and some speed kept the windshield clean ( Spooled rear end and I didn't wreck , imagine that ) The drive in the rain was a good thing as it washed 4 years worth of construction grit out from every where.. it was a real down poor ! So I started wire brushing the bed and fogged the bed with some satin clear. Which is how I have treated all the raw steel on everything except the sheet metal.
I have to finish the bed today as we have another cruise in tomorrow night, This truck is all I hoped it would be when I started on it. IMG_0544.JPG IMG_0543.JPG

  3. I've been slacking on the '32 project so I braved the heat and worked on getting the exhaust roughed in. I also tried routing the plug wires, they seem to be my kryptonite, they never look good on anything I do, lol.
Waiting on parts to start the brake and fuel lines, hopefully they'll arrive soon.

Oh. Capital D was a typo lol, now corrected. Full name was not mentioned for fear of post being deleted (transmission being too modern). The company in question did not previously do gearboxes either :D Their main line, as you might have guessed, is clutches and flywheels, and that is what they ought to have stuck to. Judging from the experience I had with their product, I'd dread to think what their food would be like (metal fillings burger with fried oil etc.) ;)

Put a new solenoid on the Custom 500,it just quit working in the driveway and now know why it had been starting slow the last couple years. Spins over much faster now and might just start replacing them every few years from now on.

Climbed underneath the old Shoebox to figure out what needed relieving.

Took the car and wife out to dinner last weekend, and met up with some friends. We all jumped in my car, and as soon as it had the extra weight in it, something was scraping or dragging pretty bad. Taking ‘taildragger’ a little too literally.

Turns out the driveshaft was hitting a small little spot in the floor under the backseat. Couple of sacks with a BFH, and it’s all better.

Also tried to clean up the spark plug wire routing, but by then I had too much sweat in my eyes to be bales to see straight.

Put a new fuel sending unit on the Custom 500 last night and the gauge pegged full, some how the wires in the plug touched just pulling it off so I made my own connection for the time being.and will grab that plug and section of wire at the old junkyard saturday.

DSCF0010.JPG DSCF0009.JPG I cut the plate off a frenching bucket, ground it down to taillight size, ground a reverse dip in the bucket as light does not have flat bottom, flipped and rewelded it and added some metal to the back at the top to cover gap between fender and light when they are mounted vertically to my avatar. I split the bucket at the bottom and took out some length. I have a couple Lee lenses in a box around here somewhere.

I had some tow hooks plasma cut and spacer bushings machined up as well as some decals repopped. Starts and drives however the NOSR expansion tank (Neck) from Ecklers leaks like a sieve. An easy fix with solder

35 Chevy is now on hoist to remove automatic for a rebuild

Got a few body panels mocked up on the A roadster. That firewall is going to need a lot of help after un-channeling the body... mockup2.JPG

Woke up at 3:30 am with Parts Acquisition Syndrome and proceeded to the Long Beach Model T Clubs 68th Show & Swap and got real deals the 32 original headlights got them for $20/pr and original 32 gravel shield for 40 original running boards for $20/pr with rubber still . Met alot of great people and most were happy just to make deals and parts availability for pre-war original pieces was awesome . Real great day for all

On builds or dress ups I always use old plug wires yes I keep a box of old one around so I can cut them up to whatever turns out ok then I match those with the set I'm going to use . Funny I don't think I ever do any two the same except 221 flatties

On the up side, now that the rivets on the chin pan have been cut, the grill insert is easy to remove. I was thinking I wanted to send it off to chrome, but was not looking forward to getting it out.

Whilst I have the new recovery tank soldered for the 64 Fairlane I got the 35 Chevy onto the hoist and removed the transmission for a rebuild. Next is a leaky 9" axle seal on the Ford. It never ends.

Not the most traditional part, but nothing that a little bit of turned aluminum and a press brake can't do to pretty it up a bit.
