Technical What did you do with your car today? * NEW*

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by j hansen, May 3, 2020.

  1. Heard from my friend, that he was able to pick up some of my parts from the paint jailer. Hopefully he can get the rear fenders tonight.

  2. Made some ghetto gizmos to hold the windshield garnish for our '47. I kept missing edges when hanging them vertical; now I can paint them flat, one side then flip them to do the other.

  3. Working on dash area, trying to hide as much as I can and still be practical. Heater in a topless roadster? blood thinners say yes!

  4. Cut up some ABS sheet for inner quarter panels. Held them with a couple screws until I can figure out the clips. I found that my sabre saw has a dial to limit speed; funny never noticed it in the twenty some years I've had it until today. Slow speed made sawing the ABS a breeze. Guess I should sort out all the parts, hardware, and boxes of misc that I've hoarded in it.

  5. Bought some bumper bolts, stainless caps were pretty dull so I thought I would buff them. Turned out they were so full of scratches and die marks that I had to resort to a 320 belt on the sander, then 400, 600, 1000 wet sanding before buffing. Came out ok. Buffed out the screws for the garnish while I was at it. Yeah, Phillips screws, I know. '47 leans that way, while the '35 is strictly straight slot.

Popped the head off my F100 to see why it’s running average, stuck valve and several not seating properly. Least it’s had some engine work done with 30 over pistons etc

Today I swapped stall positions in garage with my daughter's OT bracket car and put the 40 on the lift so I could have good look and add to my winter "to do" list. 20221214_200611.jpg

Drained and flushed the radiator in my Roadster. It had strait water and I needed to add some antifreeze just to be safe. It's gonna get pretty cold in the south this week.

I’ve been working on wiring my model a. Using an American Autowire kit to do it. It hasn’t been too bad, just taking it one circuit at a time. Although, this last Friday, I was able to get the starter circuit completed and spin the motor over.

Polishing my very rusty cads wheel covers. 16714603370601164854961322456188.jpg

  25. My buddy recovered my fenders and front pan from the painter Saturday and went on to spring John's Rambler from another paint jailhouse. I don't envy him taking off the year+ old masking tape.

  26. Managed to get one fender on and the other hung on by a couple bolts. I have to drill several holes as they were lost when I patched the rust holes in the wheel wells.
