I got my rear door latch parts for my Morris woody back from the chrome shop months ago and I thought I’d better put it back together before I forgot how. Glad I took lots of pictures. Had NHRA qualifying on the shop TV.

  2. Feeling a little more back among living again; so ventured up to the shop for a while. Pulled the drum and freed up the stuck rear brake on the project coupe. Bad ass looking little coupe; too bad the suspension and frame are messed up. I installed some filler panels on the rear seat support of our '47 and started to add thinner insulation where the rear seat will sit.

  3. Dismantled a crusty original seat spring and plan to use as a base for a foam cushion.

I need to rework it a little as it is going a few inches forward of the original location.

Must have over a hundred hog rings holding the springs on; right hand is going to cramp up for sure.

  7. Pulled my passenger side front shock (I have been noticing some weird corning characteristics) and found that the shock is bad (sort of figured both are bad, since the "build book" has a receipt from 20 years ago (not bad imo).

Went on a 1500 drive to pic one up and a 1500 mile trip to drop the other one off. My fiend and I play musical cars. It is his turn to play with the silver car, and I will have my way with the 32.

I Spent a little time cleaning up this factory tach drive dual point. It will make a nice addition to the Studebaker and allow me to hook up my Stahl tach. Plus know where my shift points are. distributor.JPG IMG_1056.JPG IMG_0808.JPG

Ordered up a 4” drop tube axle front suspension and brake kit, because the rear suspension is roughed in.

  16. My kid came up to shop yesterday and put a 9" under the rear, a drop axle under the front, and then we set the body on Pat's frame so it rolled. Needed to get it rolling as my buddy picked up a '60 Chev wagon for his wife and it has to come in the shop for a while.

Finally getting around to putting some time in on the roadster project. Think I have the body shimmed ok now, so time to final fit the front floor. Amazing how paint and powder changes so many fitting points. Had to hog out a few holes and add a couple to get to my happy place. Then it was time to add the front block off plates (a) and after staring at it a bit, I thought it might be worth adding some risers to keep out a little more weather and give a place to attach the bottom of the kick panels to (b).

Liked it so much, yanked the front floor out of the sedan and replicated the idea.
Touched up the primer/paint and will put it back in the car tomorrow.

Took our 56 Victoria to Garden Grove for a Friday night gathering. 68 cars including two 33’s.
I think the city wants to close off the street permanently. Many businesses have moved into the street and parking spots are missing. IMG_6123.jpeg IMG_6126.jpeg

Never thought I would see this day. With help from my daughter, Alyn, we got the floor pan cut and fit in the '29 RPU with no loss of blood. :):):)

Took my FED to the drag strip today. 2nd timed run of the day was great with a quick reaction time by the driver and I was happy with what I saw when the ET board lit up, so I headed back to our pit area to guide the driver when he backs the car in. But, he didn't come back, and he didn't come back, and he didn't come back. I finally started walking back to the timing shack on the return road and saw the dragster coming. There I got the report, NO BRAKES!

We had never needed to use the chute but enabled it for each run. Thank goodness, and thank goodness the driver reacted quickly and popped the chute and got slowed down enough to make a last chance turn before he completely went off the end. No damage to the car!

Problem turned out to be that the rod that goes from the brake pedal to the master cylinder buckled. Drive said he thought he felt it "gave" a bit when he added brake pressure on the starting line to keep it from creeping through the lights as he brought up the engine RPM (no transbrake, just foot braking the car). So, the fix is a more robust brake push-rod. The buckle happened right at the end of threads on the push rod. The new push rod will be about 50% larger in diameter! I feel pretty fortunate that the driver reacted so well under the circumstances and I don't have a wadded-up race car. Very short day at the races though. Probably only one more race left in the season so now I have something to fix this week.

I have 2 hot rods but have to admit I think I'm having more fun with the dragster. Beats sitting in a lawn chair at a car show!!

I am still working on the dist. I ordered the cable adaptor as mine was bad. A vendor on ebay sent me this worn out one so I have returned it and will have to start over on the process. IMG_1059.JPG IMG_1059.JPG IMG_1059.JPG

Working on putting together a cod air intake for my truck. In the early stages, one hose , two hose . Do I make it ram air from the front end or just cold air and bring it in from the sides/side of the hood. IMG_1068.JPG IMG_1072.JPG IMG_1073.JPG

I mocked up the engine and transmission, which will let me finish up the front floorboards and transmission tunnel.

Is it possible that I’ll be able to fit the SBF and T5 without cutting the firewall? Time will tell. I’d love to hear thoughts.

Absolutely possible to fit all that in there, how far do you want to stretch your frame ;)?
