Out for a drive twice today with 1 hour stop at home.... not a drop out of anywhere on the trans. Speedo quit, bummer, found square drive to the gear drive reducer on the trans sheered off. Had to use on when I changed the rear gears from 3.21 to 2.74 and already had the highest nylon gear. 2 on order Texas Industrial Electric in San Antonio where it was made.

  2. My order of radiator sacrificial anodes came in, got them from a marine supply place, nice to pay $6 with free shipping instead of $12 and $10 shipping from Summit. Got 5 for $29.95, not bad. Took the Ford in for the annual inspection, cost me $10. I drove less than 2000 miles in the past year.

Installed a Juliano's top kit on my avatar 34 Chevy coupe. I had drilled the holes over a year ago, so it was mostly just riveting. I did one on a sedan about 30 years ago. This time it seemed to hurt my hands more. Still a great product. Relatively easy install.

Sorting nuts, bolts and washers.....a friends dad just passed and he’s cleaning out his garage and he has no use for them. Probably 200 lbs of assorted items. I’ll gladly take them.

Drove from Dayton Ohio to Cleveland Ohio to pick up a 62 Galaxie automatic trans just to get the torque converter since I could not get one locally,I think its a one year and one engine only part since it was the last year for the Y block and the first year for the green dot trans. On the way up the tires on the front of the truck could not handle the trip and the factory jack was froze up and my spare even though it held air had two nails in it so a new pair of cheap tires went on so I would not have to abort the mission since I was half way there.

Wife and I escaped from the house for 6 hours on a drive just to get away. Passing thru Pasadena on the way home we stopped at Blair’s Speed Shop. The 40 Chevrolet we have was built by Don in 1962 for Noel Melovich. Not positive if it was in this spot but close enough. 15. Got some work done on the bed today.. Drilled holes and mounted front panel, added brace for wood..Then cut wood and fit, fabbed a rear crossmember that was missing to hang the gate. Dont know if maybe worth the $60 for a after market one still need to do some more work to hang gate correctly(I am a cheap basterd). Next is the big gap between bed and crossmember when gate is open..

Lately,I have been having trouble welding aluminum with my Lincoln Tig, that I bought in '76. So, today I re-set the points in the Hi-Frequency unit, they were .005 too wide. Another change I made was a switch to 2% Lanthanated Tungsten. After trying a quick sample, rather than a contaminated weld, it's nice and clean. I also ran some steel samples, and it produced a very sano weld as well. IMG_5220.JPG

No photo for show and tell but I got the roll over bar and winch mounted on my car trailer. Now I can at least go after a project car without figuring that I'll have to spend half the afternoon dragging it on the trailer with the come along.

Cleaned, installed new gaskets, set up and painted the ‘32 box for my ‘29 on ‘32 rails project. I got it installed and filled with gear oil and ran it back and forth a few times. No pictures other than this.

I’m really trying to get this car going, I have a bad case of roadsteritus and really want it going.

Let’s hope tomorrow brings another step in the right direction...

Put some "close enough" green paint to cover my repairs on the 34 pickup IMG_1596485560394.jpg cab sub rails. It'll be time to throw it on the frame in a day or two. Then I can mount the radiator and fire up the flatty for the first time!

Went for a walk in the cool woods with my wife and dog.
Stopped at Wendys for a smoothie.
Came home and finished a "honey do".
    Now it's nap time.

Got the charging system working in the Merc, one of these days I will start by doing the tests instead of replacing parts but I had them in stock. If I would have just done the isolation tests I would have known what was wrong right away and it was the new looking voltage regulator.
