Sounds like you have a lot to be thankful for, but can also understand wanting to get back to work. Praying for a quick recovery so you can get back at it. But, rest is good advice for now. :)

Thanks J HANSEN , guthriesmith , This thread is my escape seeing what others are doing. I will add I am 62 and started this journey at 38 . I have been stented twice in the widow maker So I am somewhat used to it. Now back to our regular programing !

  5. My machinist called today to tell me my 351W block is sound and he will begin machining. He's going with a .030 overbore. That's the go-ahead for me to buy the cam, roller rockers, timing set, oil pump and sump, and lots of other stuff so that parts will be ready when he begins assembly. This is a huge step for me, since I began working on this project in 1974. If the budget allows, next step will be to get the transmission rebuilt. I had a health scare a year ago, now recovered, that has convinced me to do this NOW! There's no guarantee that there will be a "later."

Nothing, sorry to say. But, I did seriously think about it while waiting for a Life Screening Test today. Glad to say however that I'm good to go.

I got some jewelery for the Hemi.

Tossed it on to see how it looks.

  9. Started grinding the welding and sheet metal so it is clean enough for the filler to stick. Have to pick up some cartridge rolls to get into radius around the headlight rings. Even remembered to finish welding the grille supports I added to the splash apron. Started making some sill plates for my friend's '33. Shrinking that .063 aluminum gave my already sore arm a workout. IMG_20210722_152502.jpg IMG_20210722_152418.jpg IMG_20210722_154204.jpg

Wiring is done, wheel bearings are done, complete tune up and service is done, new tires are done...
nothing left to do except to experiment to see if Hankook tires can go up in smoke, if you get my drift. ;):D

Installed my new '70s Mod Brady Bunch Designer $14 a pair seat covers, after some generous foam and taping underneath. Not sure what the long term plan is but the wife wasn't thrilled with seat spring enemas.

Spent today at the lathe, spinning up all the spacers to get the belts aligned.

Still waiting on my 321 stainless tight mandrel bends, to finish the headers.

At least now, with the drive complete, I can move on to placing the rear coil overs, and anti-sway-bar.

I am half-wishing that I built the reverse-rotation quickchange out of aluminum instead of magnesium.

    It holds the polish better.

I am actually quite surprised that I have not been banned from the board for putting the engine in backwards.

All I can do right now is lite work, so I have been cleaning up some parts and made a couple brackets to repair the oil pump sump. And one nice surprise was the rockers arms are made in the USA ! studebaker build 001.JPG studebaker build 002.JPG studebaker build 005.JPG

  20. Not what I did to my car but I had to clean up after someone else decided to run their car into my building. After heavy drinking he figured it was "drive through" auto supply and machine at 11:30 at night.

Wow, Tim... Hard act to follow! A friend works for Service Master here in town, they are 'Johnny-On-the-Spot!'

I finished up the sub-chassis on wife Joey's O-T BMW E46 and installed it...Whew! (to think I used to do that full-time, it's worse than deja vu'!)
NOW I can 'hot rod'. (continue builds)

Time to upgrade from 3.5 to 4.56, replace bearings & seal, inspect locker. This is the last improvement in a long list of upgrades I've undertaken over time. 222067328_339888680959168_4584122012931317723_n.jpg

IMG_20210724_152217552.jpg IMG_20210724_152200986.jpg i always hated this dopey gap between my cab and pick-up bed . I finally decided to take the time to finish it off better. Looking at all the great builds on The HAMB has me embarrassed of my heap and i gotta turn it up several notches!
I got panels cut out and bent up for it. Gotta weld it up now and make some supports/gussets to finish them up.

The blower belt came in, so I put that on. That's about it.

Everything else is stuck in the supply chain.

    Hi
Got the last of Freddie's valve guides out , took off the rear cam cover to see frozen gear say and broke the frozen oil pump . Saw the cam just rusted solid to the lifters . Progress is good

Nice. Do you have a build thread going? Curious the overall plan: street, race, wheelbase, cooling, body?

Lot's of period correct show cars & race cars were built with alternative engine locations. I was wishing there was a build thread so we could see the whole thing instead of bits and pieces. If not here, maybe on another site, with a link to it so those of us who were interested (and I think there are more than a few) could check it out.
