Haven't "done" anything yet. But I can buy parts. Drove to Ohio again yesterday and got these. A pair of 903-Js stored in a basement for 50 years. In real good condition.

Great your acting to accomplish this .
I'd like to invite you to a thread or two about a flathead that got unstuck with care and it now turns over smooth though I may have bent up a ring I don't know yet and did it without dropping the pan and with the flywheel on , a can of Deep Creep , a half bottle of Marvel Mystery in a oil squirter , wait a couple weeks and tap around with brass hammer and jiggle the flywheel with those Harbor Freight black handled prybars . You can check out the thread Meet Flo !
If it is REALLY stuck please check out Freddie's Latest ... .
You can ask me any questions you may have and I done it just like you now have it - on the floor on top of a 5/8" pressed board from Lowe's lumber 4 ft is all you need its in the racks for about 20 bucks sure saves the slab . Hope to hear from you and keep your foot in it

So Sunday I spent the machinist money at the Vet Stadium car meet on a complete and nice 3 blade fan assembly and then found an extra blade also !
Today got Flo prepped for an oil pan drop to inspect further the rust damage that may be created from time outside with a couple plugs missing . Hope to start the revealing of integrity tomorrow . I was going to run Flo as is but after Freddie's damage I am playing safe since Flo had a rebuild just prior to being dumped outside . Everyone have a good evening

Took the Studebaker on it's first real drive of about 30 trouble free miles. No troubles and no surprises. Went to a local cruise in and had a great evening. IMG_0306 (2).JPG

  5. I am going with rack and pinion on my Ford, the Unisteer kit is here, now to round up everything else.

After filling ourselves with BBQ and Brunswick stew and GREAT desserts, we stopped by another fellow's playhouse on our way out of town.

It was great to take my car back to the area where my car was built and share it again with the original builder and so many of the fellows that were there when it was built. This was on the wall inside the picnic host's shop.

Started this mess on the wife's car. I do like how the hood turned out. 278387385_5376175192406723_2591362841137733831_n.jpg 278710706_5376176129073296_571339647584884060_n.jpg 278337613_5376172469073662_2997094895534963877_n.jpg 278233004_5376172879073621_1213498439135593519_n.jpg

Nothing on on-topic stuff. Mostly getting the off-topic stuff up-to-date on maintenance.

The wifemobile gets a ton of miles put on it, and needs to look good doing it.

Put it together, take it apart ! it is together and ready for another drive tonight. I ground the welds flat and also added a piece of tin to seal the top of the radiator while I was working on air flow. IMG_0341.JPG

Picked up these side skirts from Marketplace earlier this week.

Hopefully this evening I’ll get a chance to fit them a little better, then strip and prime them.

I ran the A pickup up to NAPA to pick up some oil and a filter. The plan was to drop the oil when I got back while it was still good and hot, and do an oil & filter change, and lube the chassis and u-joints; but when I got to NAPA the oil shelves were pretty bare, not much in stock at all, a couple of quarts of this a couple of that, but none of my brand/viscosity, and hardly enough of what brands they had to do a change. This is ridiculous. Being in the business I shouldn't be surprised, but it's still shocking to see.

Anyway I picked up a filter. Interesting that they didn't have any NAPA brand filters, but they did have WIX, which is who makes their filters anyway, so that's fine. But the cost, damn, about $15 for the filter. I didn't complain, I was just pleased they had 1 in stock.

Came home and did some searching online and it looks like the local Wally World may have my brand/viscosity in stock. I'll keep my fingers crossed and run up there this afternoon, hopefully they'll have it.

I pulled the hanging pedal assembly out of my '39 Chev coupe to rework it. It came out of a donor car that had power brakes, and the ratio was 4 to 1, which made for a lot of leg pressure to lock the brakes up! So I cut the factory pedal off and extended the brake are about 4" longer to get a 6.5 to 1 ratio. I also didn't like the factory rectangle pedal, so I bought a 40's Ford truck round pedal that has a 1/2-20 thread. Welded a lug nut to the end of the arm so I could screw the round pedal direct to it.
Now it stops with normal foot pressure, and looks more vintage inside the car too.

With only the wife’s Corvair and my red coupe running out of six hot rods you’d think I’d leave them alone, but no. I’ve been wanting to swap out the 3.70 gears in the coupe for some 3.25s. So I’m putting together a 3.25 3rd member using the stuff I have lying around and a new bearing and seal kit. Of course that meant pulling an axle to find out what spline the axles are. And building a fixture….

And new claws for my puller….

Then my buddy calls and tells me that his car club is having a picnic at the local lake this Saturday, I should bring the coupe….Ahhh.

Wally World came through for me, I picked up 2 gallon jugs of the oil I like to use in the A pickup. So I got the oil & filter changed on it, and lubed up the front end and drive line. It should be good to go on a run I plan to go on on Sunday, should be about 200 mile round trip, plus a car show.

No photos this time , I took the Stude to another cruise in and it was great. It runs great , loud as hell ! get's all kinds of positive feedback. I love the shock factor. You know the Shitbox of Doom look and then you light the motor up. It drives really quite well, so I am getting use to the shifter as it is a full manual Turbo 400 and the motor spins up really quick I would hate to blow it up right away. I hit it at about a 10 mph roll and into second up to about 60 or 70 feels good. It just hazes the Hoosier dirt track tires ( I need to let some more air out ) The wife liked it, I will have to get her to video a ride along. Life is good !

Put a heavier weight in my TH400 governor to lower the shift point

Reworked the shift linkage after noticing that I put it on upside down during final assembly. I spent a few hours putting it on and taking it off several times to tweak the bends and adjust the lever on the trans until the detents on the column and transmission matched up.

Changed the oil and filter, greased the front end and driveline, checked the vital fluids and aired up the tires.

R&R the wheels to inspect the brakes and clean the inside of the wheels

Clean inside of the wheel wells

The '58 still needs a little clean up but it will be road worthy when the rain stops.

Beautiful. Just make sure it's pointed OUT of the garage this time.
