Sweated 3 buckets worth working in a 100+ degree shop. 13 hours in the shop fighting a front brake line that wouldn't let loose at the master or the hard line/soft line connections (soft line clogged). Fighting the caddy flathead to break it loose...PB blaster didn't work from top side, now breaking loose the rod bolts which seem to be torqued to about 200 ft/lbs. Fortunately 13 of the 16 are accessible. However, right now the B**** is winning. Hammer & dolly work on the wagon dings Stripped caddy air cleaner and the 53 air cleaner. Did not drink enough beer.
Got the fuel lines clamped down on the 51 Fleetline. Had a Great Father's Day. today is my first day off for the summer and plan on working on the battery cables and battery mount after the grandkids leave about noon. Hope to have the 51 roadworthy by summer's end. Hope everyone had a great weekend and Father's Day!

Still working on the OT camaro so I can sell it and get another on topic car. Cheap drill bits dull just at the sight of welds.
I went to half price day at pick a part, tried out the "primo" yard side to see how the other half lives, and ended up getting an 18" electric fan out of a 95 T-Bird(2 speed) and a 15" electric fan outta a 94? 5.0 mustang convert-that wierdo year, still had the 5.0 but new body style. I read that 15" works well with its integral shroud(actually the article specified one from a V6 Taurus, but I'm pretty sure this is the same one and it's 2 speed as well, unlike the other fan I grabbed from a sable or something). The T-Bird fan is just bitchin!! Also grabbed some relays while I was there, hopefully strong enough to work the fans! Went to Lowe's and got 9x8' of their 1/2" carpet padding. Gonna put that inside the doors/quarters/firewall etc. to kill noise and insulate a little. I have some on the ceiling and its been amazing at quieting things. I just hear all the rattles now, not the outside noises! Also got some 2" thick fiberglass insulation with silver on one side, that's also going on the firewall. Thought I'd give it a try and see how well it works. I think it's R6 and should fit up under the dash/upper cowl area just fine. I want no more firewall/trans tunnel heat!!!!
Holy shit - I bought a basket case '50 F2 for like $500. All the parts are there, plus it came with like 2 of everything - even a late Mercury flatty! ~Jason
I rebuilt my 53 Desoto carb. Hardest part was finding the kit. Second hardest part was tapping all the seized bolts and repairing the bakelite parts. Carbs are cool.
Did some housework to keep the wife happy, drank some beer with my friends Saturday night, went to South Mountains Rod and Kustom show.Looked t the floors on the 56 and got a game plan.Look out next weekend.
I decided to prove for myself that money doesn't come with instructions,..... I found this 37 Ford that had been sitting in a garage in Royal Oak Mi. for 10 years,... the price was right,..... sooooo I bought it, I asked my wife if she wanted to ride down with me and I would drop her off at the mall so she could shop with her sister while I load this pile up. Dropped her off at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday,... went to pick her up at 1:05 P.M.,....... they just needed to go into a couple more stores,.... sat in the truck, read my new issue of Rodders Journal, fell asleep 3 or 4 times,... woke myself up snoring 3 or 4 times,..... 7:00 P.M. she's ready to go, met with sister in law and her husband for dinner , "They" decide it's to late to drive home,... we'll spend the night,. Sunday morning, ad on the radio, car show & swap meet at Gebralter Trade Center 10 miles from where were at,.... hot digitty dog,... lets go! my Wife and sister can shop, I'll check out the swap meet and show,.... we pull in at 10:30 a.m. and I drop her off at the door,.... pull around the building maybe 50 cars and 2 swap meet vendors,..... 10:50 a.m.,... I'm ready to go,... Tina says "we just want to look at a few more things, we'll be done in a couple minutes" 3:45 p.m. we leave,...... drive a few miles and she sees a gigantic Jo-Ann fabrics store,...... "can we just stop for a minute ?" we pull out at 5:25 p.m. She tells me that the outlet store in Birch Run closes at 6:30 p.m. and we HAD to stop, cause she really needs something there and thats the place she really wanted to go when she came with me in the first place,...... On a good day it's about 1 hour from where we were to Birch run,..... so we take off,... the big ol' F-350 with a engine, frame and a bunch of other stuff in the bed, the back seat stuffed with shopping bags, the 37 body strapped down to the stretcher with all the fenders, boards, hood seats,... everything stuffed inside,..... flying down the highway (not exactly doing the speed limit),..... I get there in 50 minutes to find that not only was the outlet mall open until 7:00 p.m. but that the store she HAD to go to went out of business a couple months ago, so she shopped for a while anyway,................... had a hot turkey sandwich at Tony's Truck Stop,...... and made it home at 9:00 p.m. Sunday night. than Both my sons called and wished me a happy Fathers Day. Even with all the "shopping" I still had a blast, I got a grin every time I looked in the rear view mirror and seen that 37 looking back at me, and it made me feel good that she was having fun,..( I never even rushed her out of any stores). Would I do it again ?, as long as my traveling companion was the same,... I'd do it in a heartbeat. I had a great Fathers day weekend. (You asked !)
Went and picked up some 51 Merc wiper bezels for Cambridge Custom Chrome to replace their customers damaged items. Not much left on the old Merc as I have been stripping it slowly over time.Scored some 63 Chevy tapered bearing front hubs to use on my 57 Belair and on Sunday of all days I installed a new ring gear and pinion in my father-inlaws 03 Dodge. He ran it empty.....shows how much money some people save doing their own oil changes.Consumed many beers after all was said and done.....
Nice looking car there but I count 4 different colors I had entirely too much beer Friday and did nothing Saturday but Sunday I pulled the carb off one of my OT cars for rebuilding took the kids to see Ku Fu Panda then went to HF to pick up all the 50 cent sale items (they had a bunch of these 6" levels for 44 cents each so I got six of them figuring I could use them building my frame) then I cut up some scrap and grilled out. Pretty nice fathers day if you ask me.
I was welding up another 4 grind rails for KC local skateboarders. Got them in two different retail shops here in KC & it's been keeping me busy. There are so many things I should have been doing to the model a....but the money talks. Carl Hagan
Painted the last 2 seat frames for the 'Burb Saturday. Sunday, relaxed some, added more batteries to my solar photovoltaic system, too hot out to do much else. Went inside and drank Margaritas with my wife.
Well, since I have changed from primering my car for a while, to putting it in "real" paint, I looked at the body work I had done. After going over it carefully, I decided there were a couple of places which needed to be "improved" before real paint. 16 hours later I'm about half way done with the "improvements". J.
Practiced the moves to the horizontal mombo with the queen, tried on the shirt the kids got me. Everything fit just right, perfect fathers-day>>>>.
Treated myself to a new battery and added some fresh gas and now my truck is starting and running strong.
Got the modified to fire up and idle finally! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272525 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=271563
Long weekend. Thursday was a weekend day for me, taught drivelines classes at the annual Arkansas School Bus Mech's Assn. I had approx 100 people in my classes, was truly a fun day. Nobody saw me at Petit Jean Mtn swap meet. Welded on the rear fenderwell patch panels on my 29 Tudor, and worked some more on fabbing a rear seat. Drank some beer. Lunch with my girlfriend and her family Sunday.
Took the Buick to its first show this year. Ran great. Got my 60 wagon fired up. Found no bolt holding the crank pulley on. So the list begins to grow.
Weld floor boards on my 59 truck. Pulled the dampner and front cover off my 327 to see why it didn't go on far enough for my belts to line up. (short water pump engine changed over to long water pump.) No luck on that one. More welding and grinding.
Built an exhaust and put it on daily #1. Ripped a head off of daily #2 (sounded like valve shims but now seems like piston slap in V6 Toyota.. yes, I know.. a Toyota). Looks like more tear down. Did some work for a couple of mandatory courses I need to take for work. Had a father's day dinner at home (shirt fits). Oh... got some rust off of the headboard for my 30 A and experimented with "Evapo-rust" liquid. Works well! Got a cold. Needed to go back to work to get some rest!
Went to Pottsville, antique tractor pull and Yreka, Ca for a little car show. Put about 200 miles on my Model A pickup. First time it went out of state too. Even if "Cal-i-forn-i-a" is only 20 miles away there a big mtn. pass in the way. I was very pleased. Oh yeah, and drank some beer too.
I did more cutting... and welding ...on the wagon ... and then got some shocks bolted in. then took the family to six flags on sunday.
Got the inside of my trunk lid painted and mounted. I still have to tweek it a little bit. I will wait until the weather stripping is on to get it all dialed. Once that was done I started on the pass. door. 3 heavy coats of high build, most of which will end up on the garage floor
