so lets start it off what did you get done on your ride this weekend ???? i got the slots off my car and white walls on it... lets see the pics here are mine before after lets see what you got done
i built a workbench, and spent a lot on tools, so that i can finish workng on the car. Does that count?
exhaust on the 28, some work on the carb, changed out the gear oil in the rearend. Found water in the tranny (damnit). I'm Hoping to drop it off the jacks and run it around the block next weekend.
Well, let see... I bought it, got it home. Started troubleshooting the items that are currently keeping it from being driven. (brakes, clutch, electrical) While the battery was charging for the testing of my charging system, I got all of the pimpmobile velour out and bagged for the trash, and scraped off the stick on flames. Determined that the alternator is bad, so I got a new one. Next week's goal is to electrically isolate the starting/ignition and charging systems from the nightmare that is the rest of the electrical. Would also like to solve what's going on with the clutch linkage. Maybe get the wheels off and do a full inspection on the brakes.
Dialed in my HF 40# pressurized sandblaster with alot of help using the search feature here. The HAMB is an amazing place for help.
my MSD dist went south a couple of weeks ago, and got my Mallory converted to MSD in, and bought the Taylor wires for it at the GG show sat. will start cutting the wires down to size today if i can find the crimper i got from MSD back in 05.
I got the rear differential and torque tube assembly pulled out on my 50 Chevy. Not normally too bad, but when I popped the rear cover a bunch of water and mud made its home in there. To make it worse, instead of a bolt holding the center pin in, there was a flathead screw. Took me a week but I finally figured out a way to get it out. Managed to get 2 of the u bolts off too, since the axle needs to be pulled for cleaning and paint! After that I will throw it back on and put my new open driveline differential in. -Nick
I undid some of the things I'd done that I didn't like, I do that a lot but then, if I knew what I was doing, like you other folks out there, I would be driving it on this sunny day instead of working on it but then, it's the journey!
Went and got the rear view mirror for my TT. built a mount and installed it. while buying the mirror the guy told me he had a Belly Drop. no dents no rust through, basically good shape. 10'X30" he thinks it came off a P-38. $200 I put a deposit and a hand shake on it. SCORE!!!!!
Saturday I went to an auction to buy some machine tools. Waited eight hours for the auctioneer to work around to the guy's shop. When they got to the machine tools they sold a couple of items and the seller said the prices were to low and withdrew the tools. I wasted a day but I saved a lot of money. He had (still has) some good stuff and my billfold was bouncing around in my pocket.
Went over to Dayton Ohio, for a meet and greet. Went on a tour at the "Taj Ma Graj" that was well worth of not getting anything done on my cars, and meeting everybody from Ohio. Super day, along with my free lunch at the Quaker Stake and Lube after the tour. Chris 55 is a super guy and thanks again for letting me tag along.
went to the junkyard got some trim off a 55 packard, smoothed my headlights, put my door panels together, made some scuff plates and painted a toilet seat!!
Scored a clutchcan for my FED. Found a 56 365 Caddy for free and made a phone call to an old aquaintance to ask about some Model A front fenders, the fenders cost me $10 and I got to talk to his son who was in town and an old pal as well. What a treat. Stopped at another hotrodder garage today and shot the shit with a couple locals that were dusting off the cars to take em for a spring spin.
I picked up a '49 Ford Toploader that will sit behind the '52 Chrysler Imperial Hemi in my '56 Dodge Pickup project Saturday am. It was over an hour away, but well worth the ride and met a good guy that is into F1 Pickups. He had a nice '49 w/ a flatty in it that he was building. Also ordered up a Rebel Wiring 9+3 kit (and got my HAMB Alliance 10% discount - Thanks Glenn). Took a buddy who is visiting from Denver out for a ride in the '29 coupe this morning.
Got started on the floor in the coupe and decided it was a nice day so I pushed it outside to admire it's new stance that it developed this winter
Got all the new Break lines run, bearing packed, and rotors turned. WOW, right? Did some other mock up work, and stepped back to look and plan for stage II; the drive train swap from v6 to v8. Awaited the no show UPS goodies. Maybe more next weekend?
Spent most of the weekend (first one in many not having to work) detailing my nonHAMB friendly car only to have it start raining tonight and all day tomorrow. Should have went out the shop and drank beer instead !!!
Finished up the brake lines on a buddys 27 roadster project, doing spring maintainence on our Track T.
Finally got around to installing the '94 Explorer 8.8 with 4.10s in my '37 Ford 6 speed sedan. I measured the spring pad width on the rear end and compared the measurment with the width of the springs at the pinch bolts. They were the same!!!. I lowered the rear of the springs and placed the rear end on and jacked into place. It fit perfectly. The engine in 4 degrees down and the rear end is 5 degrees up. It is up in the air and not at ride hidth but close enough that I can adjust with shims when I get on the ground. The springs and instalation kit is by Posies. The spring location is adjustible at the front and fits inside the frame. A bolt in rear end!!!! TexasWino
Got most of the way through rebuilding 3 Holley 94's (thanks Hot Rod Company for my kit and discount!) realized I need to turn the shoulder off the power valves but now the carbs look good n pretty!
