Found this rare cowl steering box at Hershey this year. Going to use it in my speedster build. Also picked this up not too long ago locally.
Just barely, but I might say I saved this 40 Merc coupe from more of the tree falling on it and it likely becoming part of the earth where it had been sitting for a lot of years. Or, you could say I might have saved it from its planned fate as a mud bogger as had been the plan even though it would have likely never happened...
No, but I did find two huge copperhead snakes under the igloo doghouse that is the white spot in the weeds. Those kept me on my toes the rest of the time there since I didn’t see where they went. Oh, and the money paid for the car went toward bail money to get the owner out of jail. So…even though there were no banjos playing, might as well have been.
I saved a 50 Chevy 5w PU, a 63 Chevy wagon, and a 63 Impala SS from being crushed. They were literally 1 day from being smooched when my son, one of his buddies and I each hooked up a trailer and went to rescue them. The s**** dude had about a dozen other 50's-60's cars that I just didn't have the space, time, or energy to get. I did manage to talk him into cutting the rear axle out of a 61 Olds before crushing it though. I resold all 3 within a month for a reasonable profit so besides the moral victory it was probably worth it.
Mmmmmmmnnn. I’m thinking Biff’s ‘46 Ford in BTTF. That was a Coupe made into a convertible. Mmmmmmmm.
I saved this sectioned 1950 Ford Coupe, and also a chopped 1950 Ford Sedan that’s chopped in the style of a Coupe. I would love to build both of these, but I’m really only set up to do running projects little bits at a time. Make me an offer. I need to get them out of the yard. It’s your turn to save them from the crusher.
To truly "save" something, you have to eventually DO something with it or p*** it on to someone who will. Otherwise it's just hoarding. JMO. Yep, I admit it, I'm a hoarder.........
Just came back to the shop with this load today, from a local guy's estate auction. Some of it I bought at the auction, but I did make a deal with a s**** buyer for a bunch of it that otherwise would have gotten s****ped, so I'll consider that "saved". I brought extra cash in the hopes I'd get to meet whoever bought the "s****" piles and be able to cherry pick the good car parts out and buy those separately, and that worked out, that made my day. A lot of estates like this go right from barn to dumpster without even an auction or a sale, really glad to be able to get what I got here. I think I may have inverted the leaf springs on my van getting it all in one trip, but it was worth it.
Not done yet, but getting closer. I guess I started it last November, so technically not this year either...
One owner 56 chieftain, it would be rust free if it weren’t for the door seals drying and letting the floors get a little damp for the last few decades.
Back in the seventies I worked with a guy that had one that only had 13,000 miles on it. The car was black with a silver or gray and black interior witch still had the plastic over the interior panels on the doors…
