What did you take your drivers license test in?

I just put side pipes on my dad's 55 Olds , passed my license, but got a ticket for loud exhaust ..some great posts ...thk/u. gus

 

In a 1965 Cadillac Sedan deVille on Monday February 3rd 1975. Exactly 2 weeks after turning 16 and having a learners permit for the minimum amount of time. It was also snowing like a bastard! One of the most important days of this young Mans life at the time.

Than I had to start over in a 63 Belair 4 door... It was almost christmas and I had a dead christmas tree tied to the roof with lights on it...

 

Dad's 52 pontiac four door. I wanted to pop the caps and be cool. He looked at me..and the caps stayed on.

 

55 Buick in 1965 passed. m/c endorsement in 1969 instructor said start the bike, use the left turn signal, use the right turn signal, step on the brake, blow the horn, you passed.

My parents 53 Chevy Belair hardtop. The next week I took it to the muffler shop and had a split manifold and dual Porter glass packs installed. My dad was not impressed and after a few months he traded it for a new 57 Chevy hardtop. He didn't let me drive the 57 much and made it clear to not screw around with the exhaust although it was the 283 power pack engine with factory duals. Sweet car.

On my 16th birthday,1964. My older sisters, 58 Ford 4door V8 auto. Had a lot of drive time in that car, passed. I had my own car, 57 Chev, But didn't think the police would appreciate the glass packs w/o tail pipes. John

 

My 68 GTO, on my 16th birthday exactly in 1979. Even made my Mom take me down in the morning and skipped out on school a bit! I still have the GTO also.

 

64 falcon Ranchero .........260, 4 speed. Dad's first and only brand new car.

When my dad (born in 1928) needed a licence, my grandfather went to the DMV and picked it up for him. When I went I used my dad's new 73 Impala because my 67 Pontiac wouldn't pass the safety. My son had his licence for 2 weeks before he rolled my pickup.... can't wait to see what the grandson does...

 

My mother's 1978 Mercury Zephyr Z7 in 1979. I had visions of Bob Glidden's NHRA Pro Stock champion-winning Fairmont Futura with that Zeph.

A 428 powered 69 Pontiac station wagon. Parallel parking was impossible but that car would haul ass.

Summer of '62. My Dad's 56 Olds 88 with Fiesta wheel covers and a sticky gas pedal. Passed !!!

...Took mine in a 62' Dodge Lancer. I bought the car when I was 15...and had it all hot-rodded so I'd be ready when I finally got my license.
...But I drove down a one way street the wrong way and flunked. Took it again ten days later...and it was the same exact route. Needless to say, I didn't make the same mistake twice!

My Father was a career military man. After he retired from that he went to work as a Washington State Drivers License Examiner!!! He came home from work one afternoon, and announced he booked time for my sister and I to take the tests. We had been "learning" in a 57 Chevrolet, 210 Townsman wagon. But, it was getting a new transmission the day of our tests. So, we took them in Mom's 65 Oldsmobile, Jet Star 88, 4 door sedan. My sister past her driving test by one point; she went first. I passed too, but would't tell her my score. When we got home she managed to grad my test results from my hand, and after seeing the score, tore it up. I passed with a very good score, my only problem was the parallel parking part of the exam; the Olds had very easy power steering as opposed to the 57 wagon, and I was't used to it. And, our Father, DID NOT do our tests. My sister later on totaled the wagon, and the folks sold the Olds for $100.00 to a friend of my younger brother. I would have bought the car had I even known the were going to sell it, and dropped a 455 in it with a TH400; would have been a heck of a sleeper. Car was black with red interior. That was 1968; to only go back in time to those days. Butch/56sedandelivery.

1965 Oldsmobile Starfire. My mom's car, nasty old gold color- lol. tested in 1981. passed first time, but mom was a driver's ed teacher..Used it for prom a year or so later- car was a FAST boat. Wish it was still around

 

I "drove" my parents' '59 Ford Custom 300. 292 w/3 on the tree. In '63, all tests were taken with standards, no automatics. Luckily, I could see THROUGH the steering wheel since I sure as hell couldn't see OVER it. Over the years, I wished I had extended up as much as I have extended out. I still like small steering wheels !.......................
