What did you take your drivers license test in?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jan 20, 2013.

  1. I took my motorcycle license test on a 1956 HD Panhead. HRP

  2. My new 1966 Plymouth Belvedere I, 383, 4-speed, bench seat, rubber floors. It was delivered a week before I could take the test. Instructor failed me, "son, you're going to have an accident someday".

    I've yet to hit anything.

"63 1/2 Galaxie 500 XL 390 Cruise-O-Matic. Dad bought it new, put a bazillion miles on it and gave it to me when I was 14. Passed the test first time out, though the instructor took off points because when I parallel parked, I used my left foot on the brake pedal when I backed up. Made it in one swing. Oh and I palmed the wheel instead of using two hands. Funny how a person remembers things like that. Still own the car too! I tell ya, I have no desire to go back, but I must admit there is no feeling like being 16 and hitting the road. Thanks for bringing this up.

  4. which time ?
1st time 69 CHRYSLER 4 DOOR . FAILED When the test examiner asked me to turn right at the 1st corner ... immediate fail turning wrong way on a one way street... .. he laughed out loud ...said shoulda seen the sign

2nd time 71 chrysler four door
after getting my shoulder length hair cut ... passed but did not have enough money to pay the extra 2 dollar registration fee (not mentioned in the lic.guide for the prices)....in order to walk out and get the cash from my dad I would have had to retake BOTH the tests ...dad said he would bring back soon...... ...really torqued me off
    2 years later
3rd time 74 chrysler four door
passed but lost points for A BAD parallel park cuz they would not respace the poles for me ... they were moved closer by another examiner for the girl in the pinto who tested right in front of me .. I just angled NOSE in and said just take the few points off ... PASSED ..AND I HAD ENOUGH MONEY THIS TIME.

funny when i did drivers ed was before the speed limit was set at 55 after getting my lic i had to obey and drive 55

Mom's 65 GTO. When she ordered it she wanted an automatic Lemans, my older sister made sure it was a convertible and I talked her into the GTO package with 3 twos and split exhaust. Looked cool but auto, air and power everything took the bite out of the tiger. Also happened to be first first place I got lucky! Mom didnt know that!

Nothing good...or interesting. In fact I'd probably spontaneously combust if I mentioned it on here.

My grandfather's '67 Nova station wagon. Tried to take the test earlier that same day in my sister's '72 Super Beetle but PA state trooper wouldn't let me take the test as her aftermarket wheels had the tires beyond the fenders so we drove home and got the Nova which was the only other car available. Never driven it before that day.

By the time I had returned to take the test in the Nova, it had begun to rain lightly. The state trooper sitting beside me in the car in full uniform looked at me and said, "Isn't there something you need to do young man?" After he said it a few times, I finally realized I needed to turn the windshield wipers on. Duh. Had to look around in a panic but found the switch pretty quick! Test went well and I passed even though I only had my learner's permit nine days. January 1974.

Those troopers always seemed like huge guys with no vowels in their last names.

My parents had a 53 Buick 2-door Special and a 59 DeSoto Firedome 4 door. Was SUPPOSED to take the test in the little Buick - Dad took it to work that day, & I WASN'T going to wait even 1 more day - so I took it in the DeSoto barge - even aced the parallel parking - first shot. Dec 1964 Wish I had the Buick.....
