hey-this is emilio-now this question may be stupid-but i am not sure what to do-so i need some help. we are installin a bolt on mustang II front suspension from RB's on my 47 chevy coupe. now i have heard that the upper A arms need to be level and i have heard that it's not the upper ones but the lower ones. so which is it?-and how would i adjust that?
    i will appreciate any help.

They're talking about the lower arms. They should be level at ride height. Trim spring or replace with stiffer one or whatever you need to do to make them level. It's important to reduce bumpsteer.

That said, my 54 the arms are way above level as I've cut the hell out of the springs to get it to sit where I want. Every time I cut the springs shorter, the bumpsteer got worse.

If you get them level and still isn't low enough, you'll need to step up to dropped spindles to do it properly.

  3. What they are referring to is when it is set up and correctly aligned the lower A arms are pretty close to level with the crosmember bottom. this is not always the only solution- it is mainly cause the upper A arm slots as they are ,are not adequate to alloy the uppers to adjust outwards enough to obtain proper camber. this condition can be remedied by taking a die grinbder and opening the slots in tower outwards a 1/4" or so to allow it to come back into adjustment. this would allow your camber to be corrected at the lower ride height and as a result the lowers may or my not be level- even may be tilted upwards some. agin this depends on your crossmember and tower dimension which vary from brand to brand....

The lowers should be level ( that is on a finished, loaded car) And it will settle a little in a few miles......OLDBEET

the Lower arms should be level when the motor trans and other stuff is in place AND they should look parallel with the ground from the FRONT of the vehicle.. Not from the side

DOes the RB's bolt in kit have adjustable upper spring pockets like the chassis engineering setup?

Thanks guys. I told him it was the lower arms, but some older guy told him the upper arms so he wanted to make sure. We've got it mocked up that with bars that I made inplace of the shocks that hold ride height without the springs so we don't have to worry about settling right now. We'll install the springs once the chassis is painted and then figure out whether we need to trim the springs or not. The RB's kit doesn't have adjustable spring pockets like CE.

thanks everyone. that helped a lot. i just wanted to make sure. my dad and i had looked at the CE front end set up for the adjustable spring pockets, but we talked to them and they said it was only for very minimal adjustments-so we ended up going with RBs-thanks again
