wow, those updated pics are a shame.

  2. I like it. Hard not to like something with that motor in it.

The only part I'm not digging is the trim piece under the radiator...but it looks like you put that there to hide the steering rack, so I understand it's purpose. Maybe if that piece were black, it wouldn't detract from the coolness of the front of the car.

Not everyone is going to love every car...but it looks like you put a lot of time and great effort into building a nicely finished car. Nice work.

With that front end, all it now needs is 4 wheel drive

hey man....hats off to you for building a tidy car with a kick-*** motor, but you've been on this forum for 9 months...you must have figured out that its not really gonna be what the general population on here are into......
i'm sure you're gonna enjoy driving it!
    regards....jick

what...no fender skirts, sidepipes and lace paint? that 'oil cooler scoop' underneath the radiator is just not working. Your metal-working skills are great - but the execution of same (no drip rails, recessed cowl sidepanels, recessed cowl top, etc) is just not hitting the 'hot rod' chord. I appreciate that these things we build are an expression of our own style and likes, but I would suggest you go back and look at hot rod magazines (not just HRM) and see just how your car doesn't quite fit the zeitgeist of this forum or the denizens thereof. Aside from that wonderful engine, your car would likely be cl***ified as a 'custom street rod' - a great thing for some venues...

So if you feel like you're getting to much negative input, it's because most of us...heck...ALL of us rally around the tradtional hot rod styles that were extant prior to the errant, aberrant efforts of the late 60s and beyond.

again, I am in awe of your metal-working skills, but I cannot find anything outside that engine compartment to like under the genre of Hot Rod.

I realize it's not completely hamb friendly but some of it is. I figured I started the thread so I'd finish it. I tried to build the car with a old school flare and some good old fashioned craftsmanship with steel and lead etc.

It's definitely different. How ever check out my Rockne 10 thread (IT is what the hamb is about!) or maybe this one below is even better and makes up for this thread. I understand were everyone is coming from TRUST ME (I just lost myself for little bit)

  8. I don't get why this car shouldn't be on the HAMB. Seems to me this is exactly where it should be. I'm not crazy about some things on it but I sure as hell like it better than some ragged out model A with a scrub motor in it, which is what a lot of them are on here.

Hell, I will give my two cents worth...I am a newbie here so what do I know. You built the car for you and I hope not for any body here but you did ask for their opinion. So enjoy your car with the killer engine and forgot about trying to be like everyone else.

I'd say it doesn't belong on this forum, but that's me.

The craftsmanship fit and finish of your car are excellent, style wise, what the heck do I know, I'm a sheep, baa. Too close to Christmas to kick a guys dog and most stuff I do I don't like 15 minutes later any ways. Enjoy it.

  18. well i guess it is kinda like when the obitron and some of those other cars rolled out of their respective shops..definitely not mainstream hotrods...creative thinking to do something different....very nice work....super motor...just way left of the Hamb....
then other car shows you know what to do to fit in the "hamb-able" way of hotrodding...

I like it. Each of us out here have our own unique styles and taste. I hope someday to possess your metal working skills.

  20. Well if that's the rule then mine doesn't belong here either because it's not a hot rod or a custom. His is both! There is a whole **** load of stuff on here that doesn't fit that criteria nearly as close as this one does.

I agree that this car is probably not HAMB friendly, but for different reasons than most of the guys on here. Guys have been building rods with wild body mods for a LOOOOONG time, the body mods done on this car are not to my taste either, but as far as I'm concerned, its the front and rear suspension, coil-overs and R&P that specifically make it not HAMB friendly, not the body mods.

I think the car looks good, do it your way, dont give a **** what others say especially on this website. "hamb" material? whats that mean? i saw a car in a rat rod magazine, labeled as a rat rod and had a HAMB plaque on the dash!!!! eegads!! the horror!!!

keep building it your way, and please dont start spelling everything with a k for kool, kustom, etc and that ridiculous **** !!

  24. I commend Salyflatwilly for having the balls to come back and show us photos of the finished car .
Sadly though when I look at them I see a guy who should have built three cars ...

    1. A proper '60s hotrod with that engine.

    2. An early post war style Hotrod with those headlights.

    3. A '90's STREETROD with those gay bodymods and that frame setup.

Apologies if that upsets anyone, just my 2bits worth is all .

applies to probably 80% of the cars on here, and 95% of the "period" cars being built.

My opinion... does'nt matter. What matters is that you build what you like, not what someone else likes, unless you're building for someone else, ie, a paying customer!
You have great talent that many folks here would deal with the devil to have.
Keep up the good work and be true to yourself.

You gotta love the Hemi, I do! This is one awesome looking engine. The rest of the car is to his own taste. His car. His money. Congratulations on your build and enjoy!
