    Hey Guys-just aquired a 40 Ford pickemup cab. I'm thinking about channeling it and putting it on a S-10 chassis with airbags.Undecided about motor- have a 70 402 HiPo from Chevelle. Hmm? Possibly a 5.0 F.I. with AODE? Maybe regular run of the mill S.B. Chevy? Also missing bed and fenders.Possibly a Splash bed? How about best place for replacement tin? The cab in fantastic shape, glass not even broken but fogged up.Cab was lifted off frame and placed off the ground around 30 someodd years ago and the frame became part of a sawmill! Will get some pics up ASAP.

    Use the S-10 frame for the cab back, make your own for the front and run leaf spring and a straight axle. The BBC would make an alright motor, stray away from anything fuel injected like the plague. this is a traditional hot rod board after all :)

    Forget the S-10 idea, IFS looks awful without fenders. Look around and you will be able to find an original frame.

    Look around and try to find the rest of the parts you need to build a '40 Pickup. They are one of the best looking trucks ever built and I've seen enough of the pickup cab rods. I understand it's easier and cheaper (maybe) but my vote would be to build the '40 as a '40.

    Will try guys! The original frame as I stated became part of a sawmill and has since faded into oblivion but I'll keep a lookout as I pick through the ever dwindling partyards.They are being bought up by overseas investors in my area and being cleaned out for the metal.Had one hell of one in Blairsville that had about 100 acres of cars.In the center were 20's and 30's around them were 40's then 50's.The newest car I remember was a 72' Mustang. Owner died and kids sold it and just like that it was gone.Well thanks for imput anything is appreciated! -B-

    isn't the frame pretty much the same for all Ford cars and trucks from 35-40? shouldn't be that hard to find one...a friend of mine is building a 40 pickup right now, he found a frame in decent shape at a local swap meet recently.

  11. USE the s10 chassis for the rigidity,scrap the indy front end for the paralell leafs and a dropped {drilled optional},axle,use the big block AND the o/d tranny. Use a fiberglass repop hood and deluxe grill without the fenders maybe just a little "T"bucket box on the back with a groovey lil' nerf bar .and still no rear fenders{rooster tails in the rain are cool,unless you are following them!}
