------------------------------------ No, you're right, it's not a "Rat Rod' exactly. More like just plain junk and garbage. What ever you call it - 'Rat Rod', 'Junk', 'Garbage' , 'P.O.S.". or whatever, it's, definitely *NOT* HAMB-friendly and doesn't belong here. ....in my humble opinion anyway. Dude, dont get bent- we're glad you dont want the ratrod name, but this site is about traditional builds, traditional rides, and traditional cars with a '64 cutoff (some exceptions). One thing is that there are VERY few people here that like the idea of a faked beat up appearance. Raw, untouched is ok to a point, traditional lowbuck is awesome, primer is finer, and there's room for Mexican blankets, Oxblood leather upholstery, and even riveted bomber seats. If you attempt a recreation of a period look make certain that you dont confuse wrecked parts for vintage low buck (grill/bumpers etc.) Personally i like the car and would change only a few things. -rick
"Recovery Rod". Like it just got dragged out of someone's backyard after sitting for a while. These always get some collateral damage, like bumper and fender dents from getting shoved around, and are usually missing a few parts.
I would call it a cool old race car. If this car found me I would do some research and restore it to its prior glory using as many correct parts from its original transformation years as possible. Even if you ditch the spool to make it streetable, cars are made for drivin not sitin on the lawn. Like someone said barn fresh is ok to a point, safety and reliability need to come into play, and besides when this car was originally built I am sure they didnt want bent bumpers and rust holes. -Don
I guess I didn't realize my cars are too NEW (?) for some of you. SAFTEY was my MAIN concern when building this car! YES, I built this car! Here is a link to pics of the build: http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r248/stupesnova/misc/ Yes the outside LOOKS like a piece of JUNK! But look at the pics and see what kind of work went into this car!
Easy easy, with a lil time and a few more post you'll get the hang of it. There's a reason we all go thru the FNG phase.
Looks like a fugazy. I don't get it when rod builders notably Rolling Bones are famous for applying a petina finish to glass bodies. Opinons are like ass holes, we all got em
I can't think of anything nice to say. but the time frame you are shooting at in that condition it would have been called a "beater"
I like your other car much better. Fake barn finds went out of style a couple of years ago. Fate titties are much better.
The Rolling Bones may "apply patina" to their cars, and a lot of people do have mixed feelings about this, and I can respect their opinions. But they DO NOT build fiber glass cars.
I stand corrected, they used a Brookville reproduction body for the car in question and applied their, dare I say trademark patina appearance? Just doesn't do it for me but I can't afford one anyway (^!
now thats a pumpkin as far as the car..call it a day and enjoy.. some parts look a lil new for it but other than that
The best part about this hobby IMO is that everybody is DIFFERENT. It would be boring as hell to be "typecast" and all be alike. To me your car is a work in progress--and by the looks of what's under the hood you've got a good start. I like the car--I'm betting it sounds radical.
This is a gasser, that's all you did with station wagons up until they became fashionable (or faddy?).
Not quite correct Grasshoppa.........all wagons were not gassers.....just like all gassers weren't wagons. Refer to Stone Woods and Cook , K.S. Pitman or Big John Mazmanian for reference. I popped many cherries in the back of wagon...... another good use of one ! Some of you new guys need to chill.....
Man, I like your other car..............nice Deuce...............but, clean up that ole wagon and put some PRIDE into it............. M.
The next time someone calls your car a Rat Rod tellem it's not because you have fancy things like floors in your car.
