I'm making money by spending money. I put every spare penny as extra payment onto my mortgage. My thirty year mortgage will be paid off at the ten year point (next July), giving me an additional $hitload per month disposable income.
I do lots of small aluminum welding jobs.....usually motorcycle stuff...seat pans, oil tanks, bracketry, exhaust systems.....I've done some projects for a few different Discover Build Off builders....if that means anything. It keeps $$ flowing in the direction of my addiction" cars, trucks & motor sickles. Paco
I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that.
Cook food at home. Never eat fast food. Seriously, you wouldn't believe how much money you can save by cooking when you're home and taking lunch to work. And working lots and lots of OT.
I'm with Rashy on this one!! But since I love to eat and sleep indoors I do what I have to, and that means sewing. (THis is the part where you read my signature line & then PM me about having some work done) I'm thinking about a line of T Shirts that some of you fellers might buy. If that doesn't pan out, there's always grifting old ladies out their pensions with Ponzi schemes and roof repairs that never get done.
Seriously, I find it's easier to stop sending money than it is to make more. Most of us don't have 9-5 jobs and if you leave in a big city like I do, you can add another 1.5-2 hours for your commute. That means you likely spend 10-12 hours a day at work already, which doesn't leave much time to work a lot more hours unless you're single or younger than I am. Look at where you spend your $$, especially regular payments like cable and sat. Look at how much $$ you spend eating out, spend on dry cleaning, etc. Also look at the time vs benefit of some of the things you do. I bill my time, so it makes a lot more sense for me to go into the office or work from home on Saturday and pay a cleaning lady $70 to clean the house than to clean it myself. I make some extra $$ buying and selling parts on E*ay. People there will pay more so they don't have to get their hands dirty in a s**** yard. I'm always trolling for stuff to fix and flip. Working for friends (on their cars or house) has never really worked for me. I can never really bring myself to charge a reasonable price since I'll likely be asking for a favor sooner than later.
Rarely do I work overtime. On occ***ion but that's too much like work. I make decent side money on eBay. Not really HAMB related items but items which many HAMBERS would like get into. I sold this and made almost $700. Beats working OT all day. And the things is, I bought it at an antique store. People overlook, looking there so often because they think everything is priced too high. There it sat. $135. Sold for $812 on eBay. Easy money. Sure beats work.
OT freelance cad work. sell on uPaY. tell my wife no. carpool. sack lunch to work. quit nasty habits. ***he - recieve more the more I give. all in all, work more than I like to... got a $4700 "overlooked" invoice from the new house this morning. guess I better log off here and get crackin!
I haul s**** metal and junk cars. I have a route picking up s**** weekly from several body and repair shops. Always leaving business cards on cars that look like they haven't moved in a while. I get 3-4 cars a month that way. The s**** prices are at a great level right now so I can buy a disposable front-driver and make a good buck. I've recovered 50 gallons of fuel so far this year from junkers. Plus the catalytic converters and radiators. About once a year I get a running, drivable total that I can flip to a local body guy who rebuilds and resells them. Everybody wins! I also eBay, but not as much as I should. I have way too many parts here at home. Good thing I'm not married!
