What do you know about 8 Volt batteries?

  1. I think we have a winner for the absolute, least helpful response. At least the ney-sayers had some valid opinions. But this? WORTHLESS

Thanx for your opinion. Guess you missed the tongue in cheek. Just fix the system or convert to 12V and be done with it.

Agreed.I use 8 volt batteries not because there is a problem, just because the thing starts better. My headlights are brighter but do not seem to have a burning out problem, and I don't put a radio in anything that old anyway.

8 volt batteries are available at any good parts store.I get them at an independent store a few miles away.Don't cost any more than any other car battery.

I got my '53 tow years ago and it had an 8v in it when I got it. Yep, bulbs go out probably faster than they usually would but I keep spares in the glove box. My radio recently got buggy and the fuses blow right away when I try to replace them. Not sure exactly what else I can do.

The 8v definitely helps with starting- no question- and I found my new battery at Batteries Plus. I would love to switch to 12v sometime in the future to ***ure reliability and to have better parts accessibility (NAPA wants $20 for a case of 6v bulbs ((for my courtesy lights)), and you do have to buy them buy them by the case now- at least by me).
