Lately it’s been my thirteen year old grandson, he’s the worst backseat driver I’ve ever seen.:)

The Guess Who is one of my all time favorite bands. They have some great music.

    Hello,

I was back out in the garage doing some final touch ups on a neighborhood kids’ climber that got torn down. The community park had this cool climber since the development was new. We used to for 20+ years. But, the important part was when our baby granddaughter stayed with us for 5-6 days a week from 6 months to almost a high school freshman, it brought back tons of memories of playing all day in the white sand and with our containers of water, making beach “castles in the sand.” Say, isn’t that a Jimi Hendrix original song?

But, since the community has other plans for the neighborhood park, they took out the play structure we spent many hours making fun times go by daily, weekly and yearly… it was an awesome adventure for all of us. The old play structure was almost indestructible, but as the kids in the neighborhood grew up and moved out, there are few if any, young families with toddlers using the park, like we did as grandparents with a goal. To have fun with our granddaughter for play and relaxation. An umbrella allowed us to stay a little longer in the summer sunshine days.

We got a steering wheel and a numbers/alphabet plate that we used for driving games and identifying alphabet letters and numbers. But, prior to showing our college age granddaughter the special items, she remembered those days spent together on the climber and playing in our own sand…

So, what did I use to listen to this cleaning up and adjusting the original look of the playground climber?

The iconic opening title song for Unforgotten series on streaming TV was written and performed by the English duo, Oh Wonder. The track “All we do” was released on their 2014 self-titled album, Oh Wonder.

The series of songs from the group played on the Bluetooth speakers and made refinishing the old climber sign and steering wheel pleasurable and memory laden thoughts… YRMV

  10. I've been on a surfer music kick the last month or so. Tarantino movie soundtracks are a gold mine for it lol.

    Hello,

I was doing another project in our garage workspace. Time spent in there is a good place and it was created as another room of our small house, so it is almost as nice as other rooms that we hang out. before, we used to drive into the garage and quickly close the door. The cabinets were old, but, hung with care, while they showed years of use and standing around being brushed by with each departure and entry.

They were tired and old to say the least. Plus, the cabinet walls were bending slightly due to poor workmanship from the manufacturer and the shelves were sagging, even though I spaced out the heavy things on the bottom floor and moved the somewhat heavy items to the outside bracket areas of the cabinet shelves. So, what was on the middle was fairly lightweight stuff. Even that set up was over taxing for the workmanship of the materials provided when we bought the cabinets.

So, with the newly installed custom cabinets and drawers several years ago, the whole garage turned into another room designed for physical work, but, it felt as if it were another room to lounge around and have some fun.

Music plays a big part of our lives, going all the way back to the late 50s. But, as 20 somethings, my wife and I expanded our horizons and the Rock music + super groups sounds, were the number one item for total relaxation, (we did that a lot…) and our resting times.

So to this day, as the wi fi program can project sounds from our Ipods/Stereo banks to our remote speakers, we have a ton of selections to choose.

Recently, with our granddaughter starting her second year of college, of course our thoughts went back to our own college time periods and the music that just started to click for us. As we got together and explored the music scene, we enjoyed that time period ever since.

So, as I was replacing and outdoor custom planter decoration item that got broken by the winds, music just made the time go by. By the time I was doing some car model body filler projects, my wife came up with a chipped display plate from those old days in out history. So, I got to work fixing that new project.

The body filler used fit the needs of the broken attachment and smooth finish needed to leave the surface as nice as it was. So, the music played while I was working on this section just happened to move to the time period of our 20 something period and now, all of those rock groups, and individual singers popped up to help me along in finishing the project.

The words that came through the speakers allowed me to go back in time, but as nice as that was, it also applied to our own son and definitely, our granddaughter who is starting her college career and future. For her, it is the beginning of “The Circle Game.”

Tom Rush was a big part of our play list. His version of “The Circle Game,” was as good, if not better than the original Joni Mitchell written and sung version. Her version was light and happy. The Tom Rush version was a little lower key and delved deeply in thought.

“And the seasons, they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look
    Behind, from where we came
And go round and round and round, in the circle game…”

“16 springs and 16 summers gone now,
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town,
And they tell her, take your time, it won’t be long now,
Til your drag your feet to slow the circles down…”

    Note:

The local rock music venue (The Coach House) has been around for 44 years and still fills up every weekend with various musicians of any style. Some folks still pack their old favorites from 44 years ago? Well, yes… most recently, one of our favorite musicians, Tom Rush, will be performing this next week. Since the famed 60’s era music scene to today’s music scene is a long time, but songs still remain the same and sound great in digital music in our own venue. YRMV
