  3. What did ya say??? :)

I actually worked for flowmaster for a week in the '70s out of a little building on the San Francisco Peninsula. I needed traveling money and they needed a guy to weld. They said it was their research facility. The whole baffleing system is baffling to me, but it is or was supposed to not only muffle but extract (scavenge). They still had a couple of the mufflers with the briefcase handle on them that someone took to the drage strip at one time.

I guess I'm not a real hotrodder I don't like the sound of an engine dumping out of the collectors unless its ultra high compression or wound tight. A stockish low compression motor just sounds like a tractor, not like a hot rod when its dumping out of the header collectors.

Sorry i was ***uming this exhaust setup would be behind a healthy V/8 with a mild cam ,decent compression ,etc.I wasnt implying that open headers and extensions would sound good on a 7 cylinder running 305 with 8 to 1 compression .Lots of people like Flowmasters tin can sound ,but i dont.I bought a 56 Chevy a few years ago with a full 3 inch flowmaster 40's setup behind headers and it had a fresh mild cammed 350 in it .Lots of people gave me compliments on the sound ,but i always thought it sounded like a high school kid with a Mustang coming down the road ...
