What's your opinion on my car? I don't know what else I should do it. Any suggestions besides paint? ( I don't want to ruin the patina )

I don't want to ruin the patina????? JUST PAINT IT. fix the cable hanging down. are you running rear fender or not i see them in one pic not in the other? if the run the you should make a set of little ones for the front.. That is my 2 cents.

Agreed about the skull. Same on the fenders. If the rears are staying, maybe some cycle fenders for the front.

...I think you shouldn't care about what others think about your car. Build it for yourself, that's what makes cars unique. The world doesn't need more cookie cutter clones, ...in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of the skull either, and perhaps lose the plate holder in front. Don't know what the interior looks like, but maybe start or finish that. I'd probably clean up the engine and engine compartment. You are probably going to get a lot of opinions about paint or not.

In the end, its a very nice car, and should be done your way. Thunderplex made the point.

ROFLMAO, strange comment coming from some one who's screen name is "ratroder".
Seems to me the OP was pretty clear.

Looks like a solid period correct car to me. Personally I'd swap the Rear wheels out for a set of "un-cut" 16"s and maybe some Stelling & Hellings aircleaners. Is this car an "as found" period Hot Rod? Sure does look like it.

Edit: Just noticed you don't have a roof insert in, I'd probably dial up Dick Spadaro, and get a nice original Black one for it.

Love the bobbed rear fenders. Just add motorcycle fenders on the front and drive as is. Really cool!!

I like it. My only concern would be that the "patina" is actually rust and a Deuce is too valuable of a car to let rust be eating away at it. That passenger side door has a pretty good coat of rust already. Some epoxy primer as opposed to regular primer will still give you the look but not allow moisture to get to the steel.

    That, and the skull.:)

I just noticed the 25 louver hood as well. Cool.

sand it down and get rid of the surface rust before it becomes a big issue. Those door skins are going to start develping pin holes and rust if you leave em like that. If you dig the grey primer look sand it down and shoot it some epoxy. Other than that I really like hte car. Congrats.

    Looks awesome!!!

I love the rear fenders and the stance. I'm not crazy about the oddball rear wheels but I love the '40's in the first pics. I wouldn't do much besides parhaps some Tony Nancy 22jr styled wheel covers to give it that 1955 Drags look. I like the plain steelies too. Looks great.

Yup, this pic shows patina and the missing ingrediants that pull it together. Nice hot rod.
After getting it back to like the pic i would spend my efforts cleaning and setting the little detail items to right and as somebody else said do the interior if needed.

Everyone likes a deuce. That being said, i don't think that's patina. That's more like " yah I'll get around to painting it! " . Pick a color that YOU love and paint the damn thing. Shabby cars don't look that cool. I like cars that look like people are loving them, shiny wheels, clean glass, primer spots where shit is getting fixed, etc, etc . I think that if that is your car in your avatar that the finish on that 32 can't make you happy either. That's what I think of your deuce. It needs paint ! oh and congrats too... :D

I like it minus the skull.

I would paint it to protect it. It looks like it the roof insert is gone. I would add a Juliano's top, and a wiper so I could drive it in the rain...or Rain-X.

I love it. But if u dont paint it it will rust. Drive the crap out of it.

  29. Wide whites, a coat of paint and loose the skull. The skull is tacky IMO.

From a fellow deuce owner, who did all the work himself..

    I would:
Sell the skull on killbillet or flea bay
    Get a new rad cap
Get everything the way you want it
    Take it apart
    Body work and paint
Drive it like your gonna keep it!

    Stance is good!
I reversed my springs the other day and it dropped 1-1/2" now to swap the 17" fronts to 16"

    That car is killer..
