Having issues with my 267 small block. White smoke out the drivers side tailpipe... Replaced both head gaskets and its still shooting out white extremely noxious smoke that gives you a splitting headache. You cant really notice the smoke at idle....only during acceleration and highway speeds. After reading some of the forums tonight, someone suggested it could be a faulty transmission modulator and******* fluid is being*****ed into the intake. Upon head removal i discovered it was #1 that was the offender. It had a weird charcoal looking buildup on the head and spark plug. All other chambers and heads were fine. I'm not seeing any coolant in the oil. The 267's original 2 barrel intake was swapped out for a Weiand Holley intake with a Holley 600dp. It has always run very well after the modifications (3 years) and this is the first problem I've encountered. If anyone has any thoughts or ideas please let me know....Thanks

If coolant got in the oil, plan on doing a complete teardown. If you try to run it without cleaning it up, you will be seeing stuck rings ,galled bearings, sticky valve lifters and cylinder wall damage. You could run some Buytlseptasol through it and hope for the best, but a hand cleaning is best. All it costs is time and a set of gaskets and plugs for the galleries.

I dont believe this is vapor. Its a thick white extremely stinky smoke that hangs in the air. It gets worse as you give it more gas...but its hardly noticeable at idle. Im fixing to go remove the vacuum line to the transmission modulator and plug it. Hopefully thats it....If not....ill be shopping for a new motor

A little bit of oil getting burned is sort of blue.A lot of oil getting burned may look sorta white, like when a race engine looses a piston a speed.
One cylinder is coked up? might be broken rings or whatever.I think if it was the******* modulator the smoke would be more likely be from all cylinders unless the vacuum port is directly into one intake port. But the modulator is an easy test. Got power brakes? Could the brake fluid be getting*****ed into the intake?

  13. A 267, isn't that the late 70s econo-motor that came in Monzas and some other cars?

Worth it's weight in scrap iron, for what you can buy a complete running 305 or 350 for, I wouldn't throw more than a couple hundred bucks at this, tops, because it's just throwing money away.

Azrael...this is why you should post an intro in the intro section and then start your own thread!

By adding YOUR problem to the post about someone elses problem...half or more of the people answering will be thinking they are answering to the original problem. Just like is happening NOW.

Just start a NEW post about YOUR problem and end the confusion for everyone...including yourself. :D
