I have seen a few pics of cars/trucks that have #5 on them.Shine's truck and a few others. Is there some kinda of kulture refernce here that I don't understand?Or is it they just wanted to give it a racecar/truck feel?
I think it is a sponsor, as in, "This race car was brought to you by the number 5, and the letter B."
Its from the numeric system, and replaces the "V" in the old roman system. It is based on a row of numbers from 0-9. In some places they let the number five symbolize the pentagram.... Actually,I dont know...
well on my car it stands for the number that I have had on my Midgets and Sprint cars for about 25 years, and before that my go-karts, and befoe that all my dads cars going back to the 1940's but I don't know about anyone elses reason. Oh the reason he started to use it in the 40's and the was because it stood for $5.00 and he had it painted just like a 5 on a 5 dollar bill
Any sign painter will tell you... The numbers 5, 3, and 2 are the prettiest numbers, the most graphic, and the ones that are the most easy to custom tailor to their use.
Geez guys, one of you almost had it...5 was traditional (yes, "trad" so that makes it kool with a k) for a lucky number because in the roman old school way it was a V and what starts with V in todays world that would be good in auto sports or sports in general? Why Victory of course...or "Nike" if ya wanna be super old school kool.
Oh, come on!!! It was Speed Racer's number!!! EVERYONE wanted to be Speed Racer when they were a kid!!! (But I still think Speed Buggy was cooler!)

[/ QUOTE ] Interesting and it does make sense. #7 is pretty cool as well. I had #47 on my dirt bike, number 7 was done up like the Seagram 7's label and the number 4 matched.
It is a measurement indicating loss of patience and an increase in action, developed by Prof. Fred Sanford. "FIVE across yo lip!"
Actually I think Sam was gonna go with 3 but we all talked him out of it because the Dale Earnhart fan club would have chased him down the road....
