i know this will piss off more F'sticks but hey... wtf...
thats exactly how they got that many posts.....they probably got more money than brains and bought their cars done instead of building them...seems like a lot of whiney *****es that think their **** is traditional as they get in their escalade to go to work at corporate jobs,

    lmao.....

  8. Traditionally, the first step in building a hot rod was to remove the still warm, perfectly running 4 banger. What we build these days are period themed cars.

I was born in 1945 and am probably in the third generation of hot rodders. I am a bit ******** and don't like the radial tires, electric fans, billet, coil overs, 4-links....don't care for the "z'd" fronts, or any of the poser stuff...wrong make valve covers..fuel injection hidden under 97's..etc. For reasons I cannot explain, I don't mind alternators, T-5s, electronic ignitions.

Just opinions. I like redheads and raw oysters...my best pal likes the blondes and junk food. We get along.

Hopefully there are some forum members capable of expaining trad, I'm ****ing serious here, not attempting to piss anyone off or flame or any such ****. Don't need any questions of my motives or parentage, just need to hear some views that make sense to an outside observer.[/QUOTE]

Wow ! Not the best way to start off a thread....that is , with an AT***UDE.

    Mike,
Totally agree with you, but we gotta remember that most of these Can Rats have to sit on several phone books to be able to type on their computer, which is usually located close to the toilet, as they thrive on smelling the stink from it...and most of them were more than likely born in the era when their mothers gave them a pacifier, which they promptly put in the wrong end, and most likely still use it when sitting on those phone books to make them feel bigger....so ya just gotta consider the source...(oh yah, and they love to be name droppers too) That will be coming next......
They will continue to post this **** until this thread gets deleted....unfortunately...

Its much easier to say what isn't traditional-

    -Radials (and most alloy wheels)
    -Air ride
    -350/350
    -Lightning bolts and sweet graphics
    -balls hanging from your bumper
-Grant steering wheels (and the like)
    -CNC'd parts
-Using old tools as decoration and not to fix your car

Go to the RR forums and you'll quickly see what isn't traditional.

From what I see, traditional builds are popular with a small amount of old timers and are a trend a**** younger builders (usually after building a few off topic car first). But there are also lots of old timers that can care less about how they were built back in the day.

Bottom line, build what you like. Use the HAMB search and archives (not easy to do) to find info you need. Ignore the members here that get bored with the forum. Hitting refresh all day long gets old after a while and they need some sort of entertainment. Don't become part of the problem, become part of the solution.

looks like there is no answer for this question.

"if it's older than that, rusty and sits on the ground it's
    'cool' and '*****in'."

rusty cars that sit on the ground are NOT traditional. to anyone with taste, they are not cool and *****in. cars on the ground are very much a product of the last 15 years .. especially 30's cars. though many of them use traditional parts, the overall stance is very much a new thing.

I like the term "timeless". Traditional style cars are timeless, they were cool in the day, and have been cool ever since, and will be cool 20 years from now.

rusty **** box "model A 5 windows" with the frame 2" above the pavement are not traditional. cars like this are a fad that hopefully will go the way of cars with tweed interiors and pastel paint color and splash graphics.

That 350 crate motors should not be mentioned as a centerpiece. And that 17" plus mag wheels should not be here. And a lot of national events are covered, and the FNG'z will keep posting contemporary street rod styled car.

    This.

I don't really get how anyone could spend any time here and get the impression that rusty low cars are what it's about.

To the OP, look at ryans coupe, elrods coupe, (my coupe if I may say so), anything Thee Inland Emporers are doing, and about a million other folks on this board who celebrate traditional and tastefully built cl***ic hot rods. That's what this board is about.
