What does your old car smell like?

All my cars have 3 distinct odors fighting for domination.....cigarettes, farts, and blue Christmas trees....

 

Mine has the perfect old car smell...even after i repainted the entire interior that smell still stayed...replaced the carpets, smells still there, and i wouldn't change it for the world.

Well, it DID smell of exhaust before I bit the bullet & dropped it off at Hotrod Chassis & Cycle to have Kevin whip me up a set of sweet headers that actually fit.

I'll have to try & remember what my car smelled like when I didn't have exhaust leaks.

 

This place is getting weird.

 

My Shoebox smells like musty uholstery w/ a hint of "water on Rust" aftertaste...

41 Plymouth smells like...um....Dirt....

I have a VW Karmann Ghia...that smells like old, musty but slightly burnt Horse hair...I think all VW's do...they all have the same burnt, old, musty Horse hair smell... I'd hate to know what they really used in them seats.

As off topic as this is from the mechanical side of things...I rolled reading all of the posts....great thread.

What do you mean..., "Starting"..., It always was weird...!!!

 

Mine still smells like those dam blue trees. Had a leaking gastank when I bought it and the, clever, guy I bought it from thought he could cover up the smell of gas with about a gross of blue trees. Dammmmm I hate that smell. The gas smells better.

Probably same guy who put two different heads on the motor at the same time....but I digress.

 

My 30 A roadster smells like the great outdoors.........I leave it set outside,AND its rained 8" in the last three days here....... the 58 smells like a charcoal grill as it gets hot as one inside with the glasses rolled up[also sets ontside all the time].....need a garage ...... only have three[all 3 full of shit]

 

Good old gas and exhaust, and as of late, the sweet aroma of femininity that goes along with cruisin with my ol' lady.

 

Gas, Oil, dirt.

maybe a splash of new car fabreeze.....we can all dream..haaa.

The '34 Ford due it's lack of any real interior pretty much smells like nothing, maybe rusty metal.
The '54 Chevy still smells like paint.
The '60 Chevy wagon just smells damp and musty and not in a good way. Until all the rubbers, including the side back windows are replaced it will always stink, it's horrible.
The '63 Capri smells the best, it really does have a distinct odor, kinda plasticky and reassuring. It's a smell that's unique to English Fords, my old Anglia smelled the same.

Has anyone ever noticed that all VW Beetles have the same smell, it's one of the best smells ever.

I hauled 2, 20 pound Turkeys out to the hall we had our Thanksgiving meal in my 54. THey were wrapped in foil then towls put in Rubbermaid bins to stay warm.........................................I started to notice a smell when Dan was here for the Car show in February, thought it was a dead mouse.......................................Sometime in April, it occurred to me that the Rubbermaid tubs with towls soaked in Turkeyjuice were still in the trunk of the 54!

The smell didnt stick though? Weird.

 

I am in college...what do you think my cars smell like....college chics and throw up.... Maybe I should make the chics leave my car....nahhhh..

Tman...........ewwwww! Thank god for Rubber Maid, otherwise you'd be cookin all year long! When I get home from work, EVERYTHING I own smells like food. I used to park my 58 Chevy right out front of the doors at a Basque restaurant I cooked for.......every time you'd get in the car, it smelled like steak and cabbage!

It is hard to smell much of anything through the gas fumes in my Tudor. The Camaro just smells like primer at least for another week then it will hopefully smell like fresh paint.

My very first car was a galaxy and always had kind of a glow of death, Rat, cat, small barnyard animal, whatever.
Any way after finally doing up the interior the smell started to disappear. Untill about a month after my 'rents took it grocery shopping!
I recall the discussion about who left the bag of meat in the shopping cart or at the store. Both remembered putting in the trunk but neither could find it when they got home....Thats right! after smelling it for well over a month the flies finally started to pinpoint exactly where the "meatbag" was!
I'd never seen so many magots in my life.

 

Just the thought of this made all my hair stand up....NASTY.

 

oh man...that just happened in my daily the other night. Puke all the way down the side. The roof. etc. Front seat. Front door. Back door. Some splashes on the back seat and headrest.....my brother was sitting there so I imagine he got some chunks on him too...


what kind of warning is....oh I'm gonna puke...puke...

Ahhhhh Ray! Whatcha sayin? A quick sentence and WHAM! Isn't good enough for ya?? I do that.........but luckily I've always managed to get it down the side of the car and not in it! You wouldn't believe how many times I've had to scrub a car at a Spray Rite while everyone else sits in it laughin....
