Almost anything related to hot rodding. Also inherited a collection of approx. 150 vintage beer cans from the attic of my house when I bought it. Those have become an ever changing display in my "hot rod" room. "A field car runs through the field droppin' cow shit all over to make the lettuce grow"
I have a sword collection, kinda scares some people when they see a couple dozen swords, battle axes, daggers hanging from the walls and a couple of Katanas on stands.
Maybe if you did a search BEFORE starting an IDENTICLE thread that already excisted, you wouldn't look so stupid! Done venting. Now I can get back to Bin Laden's speeches, LOL!!!!
Vintage motorcycles, German tube radios, antique televisions, 50's and 60's Modern Styled furniture, records, and 60's lucite lamps...
Gorgeous house! I have the same Predicta barber pole TV. I remember being a little kid (it wasl already an antique by then!) when my dad brought it home and got it working again. I also have the debutante table top model.
Those are great. The one from Mexico is nice in that the word "Autel" was only used for a few years during the switch from Motor Court to Motel. Auto Court to Autel just never caught on. The Travelodge ashtray sounds nice. Does it have the old Sleepy Bear logo on it? Love to see more pictures whenever you have time.
Always nice to meet new friends Bob, thanks for your understanding, got a real so computer connection and some days I just like to use the time to move forward rather than wait around to read old searches. yes you are probably right but I did not and so this is where it should end. I hope to enjoy a beer with you some time later. Humblerly, Russ.
1890-1960's Tin Wind-Up Toys...My Dad and I started collecting in the 70's before the prices went nuts, when you could still find nice prizes at flea markets, yard sales, etc.
Thanks for showing those old snap on tool kits. Now I got one more old expensive thing to research, find, & buy to complete the car, a 20s toolkit.
No bear, just text. This is it... I'll try to take some photos. If the thread is dead, I'll PM you a link to my website. PM me if you don't hear from me in a week or two. I'm really good at forgetting these things... Slonaker
No problem, but to keep in the car, you may want to go with one of these smaller sets. Either the base model "Jr. Service set" at $10.25 (this set is the only Junior Service set known to exist).... ....or, step up to the "Standard Service Set" at $15.45: Just ask your local Snap-on representative!
Well Chad, boy you are really into those old tools, I had a small old set which is probably in my shop somewhere that was for a British motor bike and was for what is known as Whitworth. Nice little set but not much good for car stuff. I got another friend who lives in Cherryvalley CA just off the I10 and he and his brother collect Budweiser beer caps, trouble is all the items are the same, a bit like collecting pennies. They throw them down on the ground and have created this wide long footpath of Bud bottle caps that goes for quite a few yards. Interesting concept, their property is called the Ford Farm and boy do they have a nice old collection of everything old Ford plus some of those WWII scooters and they also collect custom campers built onto car bodies for example they have a 1959 Cadillac with a factory camper built into it also a 1935 Ford pickup with camper on back. I believe they also own one of the Ford 2 door cars from a movie called "Hollywood Nights".
Mostly books . I have a huge collection of " end of the world/after big disaster type of stories " , sci fi , and hundreds of books like Zola , Sartre , Proust , ect. also I have a huge amount of old Modern Library books . Also music , Mardi Gras stuff , deco and Bauhaus style stuff ( table lighters , coffee makers , pens ) Old Ford and english ford logo hand tools .
You know I called by a friend of mines house on the way home from work, I wanted to stop by and see his recent purchase of a 1964 Cevy C10 pickup. I knew he was a little bit TIKI, but man he is full on TIKI now. Hi whole house is TIKI, it is almost like going to the pacific island. So I guess we could say he is a Tiki collector, actually thinking about it nobody raised Tiki a s collector, maybe Tiki and hot rods are not compatible?
Music, though my collection is a poor one. Just under 200 CD's, 30 vinyl and 40 or so 8-tracks. I was happy with my measly collection till I went to a friend's and saw his 1100 CD, 900 Vinyl collection.
I used to collect Licorice Pizzas (vinyl records) Had well over 3000 at one point. Had a bunch stored at my mom's house and they had a seepage through a garage wall that ruined about 1000 of them. I decided it was time to pare it down so I sold a bunch, had to scrap many from the mold caused by the seepage, and kept about 500.
Yeah, back on page 3 I'm into Tiki so much I now sell Hawaiian-made ones online. So many new ones to add though, it never ends.
