Buick straight eight. You can cut a hole in the firewall and have the back two cylinders inside the cab with you. Build a small hot plate on the exhaust manifold to keep your soup warm. That would be different.

My 3 cents, why no put a 401 Buick in like Lee Marvin said, or 4.6L DOHC/SOHC Ford with overdrive trans, or NorthStar..............

Since you would like to have overdrive, why not consider this combo? look for a 1989-92 Thunderbird Super Coupe and use the whole drivetrain from it.The 3.8 V-6 with the blower on it would be "Ford in a Ford" and they get 24+ MPG with the AOD,The rear end would have a cool factor also a the suspension would give a nice ride and handling.I see these cars on craigslist in the $1200 range.

I agree with the FE motor. They run so much better than the Y-block. Parts are readily available and they came out in '58 if you are trying to recreate a late 50's- early 60's hotrod.

Keep the suburban as is. Looks like a damn-nice truck. I know a ton of people in the midwest that would like to have one that nice. You can always find a sbc and 700r4 out of any late model van. The junk-yards are full of them around here.

I got couple motors I can offer in trade for the Suburban. You would have to deliver the Suburban and the motors are worth no where near it wither but the suburban will be gone and you will have a motor for your Ford!!!

Seriously, sell the Burban at what ever you can get for it and then use that money to buy you another motor to put into your Ford. Right now I do not think anyone is selling a whole lot.

Oh, jeez! Talk about another belly ****on engine! I'd go with a Wright-Cyclone and dare to be different.

Turbine all the way! Or a blown aluminum block flatty...

  13. Find a Power Stroke diesel, it's already turbo charged ... :D

  14. Or a 5.4 DOHC out of a Lincoln Navigator then put a supercharger on it from a 4.6 Cobra Mustang. That will damn sure be different.

  15. Brilliant Idea .. !!!

Go traditional and put a Cadillac in it. Back in the day (don't you just hate that term?) a Fordillac would strike the fear of God in fellow compe***ors. Only differnce I'd do today is use a 472 or a 500. A low RPM torque monster and an economy rear for milage (win/win):)

Do this...... carb'd Modular Ford. It will haul *** and do it in a fuel efficient manner. Looks like a modern factory ARDUN to me, which it pretty much is. They're pretty abundant as well.

Put a engine that will plaster you into the back of your seat. You aren't getting any
    younger .

  26. 65-up Pontiac. They all look pretty much the same (326-350-389-400-421-428-455), and closely resemble Pontiacs dating back to the 50's (small differences, mostly on the front-timing cover, W.P.). Anyway, you get the idea, and I believe the 200R bolts right up. (possibly a better O.D. trans than the 700R)

  28. Picking a motor is like picking a girlfriend, generally not something you have others choose for you. Unless you're on some goofy reality TV show.
