What engine to put in the 66 impaler

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by danno66, Oct 27, 2008.

  1. Yeah, I had a stone stock 66 impala with the original 220HP 283 and a 3 speed with a 3.36 Posi 12 bolt. Take it from me, a 327 would be the very smallest engine I'd use again....a 383 would be much better.

I took out a 350 and put a BB402 in a '65 Impala ss...a whole world of difference, I could finally get the tires to do more than a little squeak!

Come on, be different...'66 Imps are common...put a 425 Olds, 401 Nailhead or a 421 Pontiac (I like choice #3 best, but I am a biased Indian-head) in that thing.

Be real different and put a Boss 302 in it. Those things like to rev.

I had a '65 Biscayne that came with a 3 on the tree and a 283. After seeing a picture of a drag pack optioned Biscayne, I went that route. 454 with Richmond 6 speed. Total sleeper, until I started her up.
