I know many cars have sbc's or sbf's I was wondering what was now the most popular vintage V8 engines right now. I've noticed nailheads have really gained in popularity. Theres also the HEMIs, rockets, Y blocks and caddys. Theres plenty other V8's but I would think these would be the most popular of the lot.

Then there is also all the inliners which are cool in there own right but Im kinda thinking keep this one V8s only.

Would anyone else like too see a poll done to seee what the new sbc is. I really think its a nailhead but Im biased.

what V8s should be in the poll besides what I covered that you think there are any real #'s of

  12. I'm running an SBC in the Pusher, unfortunately its not a 327 or 283.

Wilbur's car ( currently resideing in my garage) will be getting something a little out of the ordinary I think. Watch for a post when we drop the mockup mill in there.

For now, just to get on the road ASAP, I will be using a SBC.

But I have a Studebaker that needs a rebuild. As soon as I find an old McCulloch supercharger for it, it will all get freshened up and get swapped into my coupe.

Am currently running, and they have proven dependable..259 Studebaker V/8..361 Edsel FE block..500 Cadillac and 1500cc Austin..all orphans..building another 500 for 48 Cadillac project and getting some Cathcart speed equipment for flathead six in 48 Stude coupe..also building a 24 stud flathead for something later, not sure what...the only smallblock 350 Chevy I run is in my Pickup and it has 400K onnit and running strong...

  23. I had a 262ci v6 in my fleetline....but I sold the car.

Working on picking up a new car - it will be small block chevy powered or big block mopar powered, depending on which car.

    Engines being used:
    28 Ford Roadster-mildly built 49 Ford Flathead
    30 Tudor-364 Buick Nailhead, with 3 dueces
    49 Ford Shoebox-smallblock Ford 302
I like them all when done right and wouldn't turn away a nicely done smallblock Chev either, lately I been digging early Olds power so I may have to work that in somewhere as well.

Is there an engine choice that changes a traditional Hot Rod into a Street Rod?

What choices retain the traditional status?

Is it a late model OHV 4 banger or an EFI V8?

What if your running a Chevy V8 with a Endele 8 stack injection and remove the mechanial pump system in favor of a modern EFI conversion?

    What are the rules?

    Question one maybe

question two any engine available in that time frain

    question 3 WHAT?

question 4 well youd have a chevy V8 with a modern EFI traditional if your building an traditional 80's car.

There are no rules and who are arguing with were just asking what motor you running. Whats with the questions?

That's the problem with flat text. Hard to gauge emotion. I'm not attempting to argue with anyone. I just had some thoughts on engine choices and how it would effect the car you build.

I guess this post wasn't the best place to ask. I'm a newb, check my post count.:p

Maybe I'll start a new thread.

BTW: SBC with Enderle FI. I would like to convert it to EFI. I love the look of the 8 stacks but anyone who has run one of these knows the stock fuel system is an on/off switch. It would be cool to actually be able to make a long distance run with the car. I hate trailer queens.
