It is sad the way that he went. I fought off an MRSA after an abdominal surgery myself that nearly took me down, barely survived . His showings at Montreaux are killer. 1985's Moonchild and Bad Penny are just can't miss songs. He still had the fire burning, but by 1990 he was beginning to get sick. The relentless touring I think just wore him out, by 1994 at the Bretangne' Inter-Celtic festival he was really looking bad, but still managed to play his *** off. The last of the independants. RIP Rory, I 'll lift a gl*** to you later. He makes me proud to have Celtic roots, a real warrior.

Apparently Danny Gatton was a pretty serious car guy too. If he wasn't working on cars he was designing and building guitar gadgets. "Sky King" from his Cruisin' Dueces album is one of those songs that kind of makes my brain melt. Saw most of the Crossroads show on PBS a couple months ago and the Jeff Beck segment was incredible. The girl he had playing b*** was no slouch either, even though she looked like she might have just graduated from high school.

I've heard of Rory Gallagher but I'm not sure if I've ever heard any of his music. Now you've got me curious and I'm going to have to hunt down some of his work. Did he lean more toward blues or was he one of those guys who could play any style? I've heard his and Gatton's name mentioned in the same breath.

He suffere(d)'s from headache's similar to 'cluster's' since the '60's. something I read long ago. A very quick temper. Still shread's the string's, turn's wrench's, look's heathy and fit. His playing, the feeling he emit's reflect's his vibe, in-freakin'-tense!!
