What exactly is a P/U?

    acording to ford, it could be a "commercial car". a seperate cab and bed to hold cargo.

    I know it means pick up but what I dont understand is sometimes like roadsters will be called P/U's and thats what I dont understand... but thanks for the info so far

    Some roadsters are roadster pick-ups, some are just 'regular' roadsters with trunks or rumble seats. [​IMG]

    Ohhh ok I got it...just curious because I didnt think that ford made roadster pickups and Im a little slow so that added to the problem...Thanks all!!

  10. mine is a HEAP. Come to think of it I have not even laid eyes on my heap since monday.

    To muddy things up. at what point does a T bucket become a PU.. how long does the bed have to be before its considered a PU?

  18. wouldn't the PU designation only apply to a bed "seperate" frome the body{cab}-so an el camino is a car?

    My '69 El Camino was ***led as a car. Ford had a unibody pickup in the 60's which had solid sheetmetal from head to tail lights.

    Ya Mutt and it was a 1/2 ton PU. Not a Ranchero, it was an F100 [​IMG] [​IMG] [​IMG]

    PU? That's what my wife says after I pull the blankets up over her head right after the pfffttt sound and right before she slugs me.

    My '82 Rampage was designated a truck and required the more expensive "commercial" license plates... When I traded it in on an '83, they'd changed the law and it was now considered a p***enger car! El-Caminos and Rancheros were included in the name change as were mini vans..Go figure...
