What famous car made the biggest impression on you?

Andy Southard's 58 impala. I've always thought it was one of the cleanest understated 50s mild customs. Hirohata merc is a favorite too.

As far as hot rods go... thats a little harder for me. Isky's T is definitely up there on my list.

For more recent builds, Paul's little T rpu was a big inspiration to me.

I remember the "orange crate" from the Hot Rod magazine in the High School library back in 1960, I've always had a thing for 32 tudors since!

I kind of forgot about "greased Lightning"....

 

i guess i was lucky growing up.dad was 1 of the origanal starters at detriot dragway jumping with the flag and later worked for the alexander brothers so i saw alot of cool cars as a kid but i think that the california kid really made me like hot rods

 

It was the hot rod roadster in the "Giant Gila Monster" movie, Then the cars in "Hot Rods from Hell". The cars in the "Beach" movies.

 

I swear I remember the DAY i turned into a car guy. I was 10 years old, (I'm from Iowa, where I lived a sheltered life) Went to the library, and boyd and chip were on the cover of hot rod with the freshly built Boydster 1. I bought that mag. subscription directly after that, and I still have that Issue. Still to this day, one of my favorite cars ever.
I know that kind of car is not really on coarse with the Hamb, but thats what did it for me.

This car "ruined" my life, ever since I saw this car, this is all I have ever wanted to do. I have been very lucky to be able to participate in this great sport!

 

My Dad's 63 Impala SS was not famous BUT Cadzilla was! peace

 

Wow, so many great to choose from. For me, hands down it was the General Lee with the A Team van a close second.

I can go on and on, but I remember sitting down with the old man listening to his hot rod stories as we watched those shows.


Had a buddy I went to car shows with that built a General Lee. I cannot begin to tell you how cool it was to cruise down the street in my 442 with the General Lee.


One time we got turned around while trying to get to a car show in Concord California. I was following him down this street when all of a sudden I see the General Lee air born. You know it did not land as smooth in real life as it did on TV LMAO, sparks everywhere.

Turns out while looking at the street signs he missed the HUGE speed bump (more like a ramp), hit it at about 50 mph. I seen it playin in slow motion!


I had flash backs, it was awesome ... well only after we inspected the General Lee for damage and all was good. You couldn't of pounded a needle in his ass with a ten pound sledge hammer, I think he even took a circular chunk out of the seat when he got up ROTFL.

I was 11 years old at the time. It still knocks me out!

Yea, another child of the '70's.

 

Can't believe that this one hasn't been mentioned. One of my absolute favorites.

 

I love that movie.... first time I saw it was in the drive in .... ^^^^^

 

i know a guy who got to sit in the last tucker ever to come off the line in 48....with 0.5 miles on it....I am envious...
