I'm going way back because as a teen , you really get blown away with certain cars ....talk about them at school ad nauseum but that was the fun .

The '32 of John Milner and the Black '55....I've had one yellow '32 and now have a red one.....that was the 2 for me.....one of my friends has a '55 done just like the '55...it has 49? inches of Big Block that idles arount 1200 rpm and shakes the ground...I have my name on the list if he ever sells it.

 

Elvira's 1958 thunderbird. I built the model out as a kid, and liked the lines of it so much. My first old car was a.....1958 thunderbird! I've loved the squarebirds ever since.

 

My dad grew up with Jack and Art Chrisman,there cars were some of the first I remember as a kid.used to play in the sidewinder in jacks driveway with his sons.sat in the Sachs&sons comet,GT-1.big stuff for a small kid

 

Wild Willy's Altered was pretty cool too....asked one time why he drove with one hand..he replied..."Damn thing shakes too bad"

 

Duffy Livingstone's 32 Roadster.

 

49 ford with a cad THUNDER ROAD and Robert Mitchum sang the song and was the star driving the car he was a better actor than singer

The 1950 Mercury Monterey from the movie Cobra...could of stuck a fork in me, I was done...I was 7 when that movie came out...I still want that car, even though they destroyed it...bastards.

The first car a I can recall seeing that I knew what it was was the Red Barron at an indoor show must have been late 70's, never forgot that chrome helmet and the machine guns...even built the model as a kid

I cannot believe it took almost 20 pages before this car came up!
The Speed Sport Roadster was THE Embodiment of a modified roadster, It impressed me so much that the hot rod shop my brotherinlaw and I opened in 1958 or so was called Speed Sport Specialities---- Only could keep it going a year or so -- a bit ahead of the curve-- most people did their own hop-ups then.
The other car that hit home for me was the Hirohati merc, I always liked it but -- I had 3 sons and a daughter,my daughter was the one who never missed a junkyard trip , loved them, but was not really a car nut , just junkyards? -- 2 of my sons could not care less about cars , and the third , my youngest was in love with Lambroghinnis and the like ---- TILL --- one day when he was about 13 he came out of my room with a car mag and asked whats this? On the cover was the Hirhati Merc-- I told him and he said --" Thats the most beautiful thing I 've ever seen!". Right then I set my mind to get him a 50 merc, which I did abiut 2 years later , got a hulk out of Dennis Mc Brides yard in Grantsville Ut. About a year into the build the car was stolen sitting on a trailer in my driveway, but still my son was on his way --- today I am retired , living in the rockies and gat a hemi roadster project in the (locked this time) garage that we are set to start on soon.

 

Oh Rats, I forgot another car that impressed me even earlier -- The Kenz and Leslie flathead bonneville streamliner -- I think it was the first 300 MPH LSR car and is (last time I was there) still pictured on the entrance siogn at the Salt Flats. That car just has to stir anybodys blood about speed!

 

Anything by the Chrissman brothers!

 

I always liked Lumpy's convertible 40 Ford in Leave It To Beaver.

 

Tim Thompson '32 Ford Roadster. Love that car and it made me want a roadster. I would have been 12 years old when that car came out. After I saw that car I wanted to paint everything olive green with yellow wheels. LOL!

 

A little predictable I know but the the penny dropped for me when I first set eyes on the '41 Willys out of Hot Rod when I was a kid.
