1952-59 Ford what fits what

I am curious to know what years windshields will work for my 56 4dr customline. found a few cheap outside of CA but not sure if i could use them. most of them are 55's and others are off of different styles.

correct me if i'm wrong im ***uming any 55-56 sedan windshield will work, just not hardtop or convertible models

 

In '55 and '56 the windshields for the 2 and 4 door sedans were the same, they all used the tall windshield, the '55 2 dr. hardtop also used the tall windshield.

The '55-'56 Crown Victoria and Convertible and '56 2dr. hardtop used the short windshield.

I don't remember what windshield was used in the '56 4dr. hardtop, I think it was the short one.

When removed, the short windshield measures approximately 15 1/2" tall, that measurement is with the tape measure laying right on the gl***. the tall windshield is about 2" taller.

'55-'56 Mercury's used the same windshields as the Fords but I'm not familiar with the models so you will need the measurements from above if you find a Merc windshield.

The tall windshield are easier to find than the short ones. good luck.
