What gauge metal are 34 ford subrails.

    I tried a search no luck. Any one know what they are stock.

    I'm leaning towards 18, however; maybe 16..... I have replaced with both......

    I like using 16 ga for subs and 18 ga for the floor pans that attach to the subs. OEM ford has to be close to this, although Ford sometimes used odd numbered gauge steel.
     
  4. Not to hijack, but are there any blueprints available that show early Ford subrails? I need '32 Tudor and '32 Fordor and would love to make my own, as close to the original design as possible.

    Most Ford Sub-Rails are 18 Gauge and the floorpans are 19 gauge. I use 18 for everything. Door post are usually 12 or 14 gauge.
