Sam, I miss em, too. But summer is just over, and maybe some or all of them will post agin.
This is a cool place. That is why I came on board.
Kinda liked the hazing in a odd sort of way. I guess it is a test to see if you can take it, or something.
This is just like any large "family" in that there are some arguments among the "bro's" and there are times when all goes well.
But I Have seen many people helped because they posted here.
I have seen people across the country offer to go to the aid of someone stranded or with car troubles.
I love this place.

you guys are right about all the help here,hell ,i found my brother thanks to you guys,,i still dig this place,i mean,there is no other place in the world like it. i hope it didnt sound like i was complaining,i just miss seeing post by all the old guys .
Killer always had some cool shit,Brewsir too , and all the guys everyone else mentioned,
i rarley even post any updates of my project anymore cuz it usually falls of the page in 5 minutes, but a von dueshe or monster garage topic stays on for days and days,and YES im just as guilty as getting in on those threads.

the reason i even thought to ask is cuz i was reading C9's book last night and thinking about all the cool stuff guys like him,av8,and others etc.. used to post about regularly. losts of great info, there are alot of great new Hambers here as well today.just hard to keep up with everybody

3000 members ? take a look at the user list of all the members? who have made 1 or less post. I love the hamb, I was sick as a dog fighting off liver problems for a year and the hamb was my only touch with reality (such as it is), I posted some stupid stuff, opinions I have opinions, but I would have lost my mind without the hamb. Thanks to all whether we agree or not.

the whole board is infected... and its not a 24hr thing...

none the less... I take what I can get from this board and when I have serious questions about building a car... they still get answered... even the occasional spar with AV8 over piss off pipes ... or topics of late over buick drums and backing plates. I've learned alot and most of all made alot of friends.

I still love this place.

Some that you have mentioned are still around the internet, you just have to know where to look. You miss C9? Head out to CA and help him pack up his stuff and help him move to his new digs in AZ. You want an update on whats been keeping AV8 busy lately? His daughter is showing an interest in motorcycle racing so he's being real supportive in that. You miss Carps? He's been so busy with his "real" job he doesn't even have time to take a much earned vacation to the USA.

I understand your the frustration. I come here to learn/ experience hot rodding culture & Knowledge. The excessive 'tats R Kool" posts and '5minuetes ago my car looked liked this, now it is this, In % more minuetes it wil be this...pics posted!!!" posts are a lil out of my leauge.

I do feel that the FRIDAY ART SHOW is VALID! I believe AUTOMOTIVE ART is important to our hobby. I think even this great auto art show has fallen victim to lollipop & candycane imagery?
Does the weekend art show feel appropriate or outta place to you???

 

NICK, it's 100% valid IMHO. When I open up any hot rod mags I enjoy looking at renditions of would be/could be cars. And all the other stuff is cool too. I need FA, I need Steve Stanford, surfmonkey, you and the rest of you good folks that put pen to paper. I think the artwork's essential.

Ditto on the Fridaynight Art Show! I have no artistic talent and just sit here in awe at the artwork that you guys pop up on this board. I'm not all about cuffs, pomps or the correct clothes. I get greasy, I run machines, and I weld. I build cuz I can't afford the easy life. You art guys just blow me away cuz that talent is inside you and most don't think twice about it!

You're absolutely right, BR. There was some wonderful stuff flying around here. And it wasn't all that long ago. I think that the HAMB's presence has been promoted in some magazines a bit too much, which leads to a lot of walk-in goofballs.

Well, rather than bitch about it, I'm going to make a positive suggestion.

I say we focus on the Tech O'Matic. Let's bring back some old stuff, like the old posts on engine turning, or vacuum gauge reading. Let's archive the recent Roothawg cam degreeing post.

The Tech O'Matic should be a little bit like the HAMB Hall of Fame. If you've made it there, that means that you've either asked a really good question, or that you've supplied some really goood advice. And all posts on the HAMB should strive to be of Tech O'Matic quality.

Isn't that what it was like in the good old days?

Wow, this post prompted Brewsir and Skratch to post. I wish Shag and Killer were around more. Remember when "Jason" was a moderator and posted all the time. That guy need to post more progress pics on whatever he is working on.

When I started lurking, and finally posted 6 or so months later, I thought Aaron Von Deluxe ran this board. Steve and Mud ran a close second for Prom Queens only to Deuceboy and Miss Kitty. Can't say I miss Miss Kitty to much. I thought the whole lot of 'em where friends for California. It took a while before I was certain there was an unwritten rule against posting after me. I thought I killed every thread.

 

Tokyo, you make sure you send me a link to that post....I'd sure hate to miss that one
