I think the back windows look like prisoner transport too. Whole thing to me looks like a jail mobile that had the back cut off. Very cool.

The pictured complete 4wd panel is a Chevy 1.5 ton, not a Dodge. Registration #s on WW2 vehicles did not include vehicle model numbers, such as WC, that was Dodge's code for vehicles. And, it did not stand for weapons carrier.

It may have been fortified to keep people out and not in. Lippy

My apology, Looking at the first photo of the military truck, and now @Harv photo in post # 38, its WWII chevy. Still a military truck, and paddy wagon is a good guess. I think the WWII chevy's were all on the 1 1/2 ton chassis like Harv showed

Paddy wagon for sure, especially with the hinge points on the left and hasp/staple on the right for the secondary inner mesh door.
That's so you can open the rear doors and not have anybody crouching down low ready to escape/attack, instead you can see everybody inside before you unlock.

Not high security, so the idea of beach patrol to pick up the unruly does jive.

No telling how many uses/reuses this poor thing has had, but it would be a whole lot more aerodynamic if you turned it around (or find a cab and chassis)!

I was thinking about buying that! It was very reasonably priced! Cool to see it on the HAMB!
