My brother came fora visit and helped me get the pickup bed of my IH 1/2 ton. Next steps are to get the cab off and unstick the transmission so I can take the frame to a welding shop and get a crack welded up.

I got the scoop painted and the wheels shined up and took my Austin gasser out of the neighborhood for the first time. Went to the cruise put on by a local car club. The old beast drove OK there and back - loud and fast. It even won the "club's pick" award. Not bad for a first time out.
The gray primer '31 Tudor next to me was mine 'til last year. Traded it for the Austin plus some cash.

  3. The '51, just been driving it almost every day, and putting in a tank of gas almost every week. My '29 cabriolet is slowly getting the top and interior finished at the upholstery shop. ...not doing as much as I would like to be doing.

The new scoop looks great. I had to make a choice when I bought my '65 falcon, i could have bought an A-40 with a 327 that had been built inthe early seventies. A 4 speed falcon had been my #1 bucket list car for a long time, but hey, Maybe I should havebought both!. Really looks good Bob. Most of the ones I see lately leave me cold, but I really like yours.

  5. Got the Smithy's replaced with some lengths of pipe now it's sounding like a hot rod should (sounds as good as a well loved stock flathead can anyways)

Thanks George, it hides the raggedy hole they cut in the hood over the years. I hope to have a 4-hole Hilborn filling the hole in the hood in the future. I have a 6-71 and a manifold for it but no drive at present. I'll get some drive parts together and do a mock-up. I will repair the hood at that time and cut out just what's needed.
As far as the overall look, it's hard to keep the real gasser look but make it drive like a street rod. Big slicks, stiff suspension and a light car certainly make for an awkward driving street car.
This is Phase I - fix what's already there, then re-evaluate. At this point I'm just excited that it's up and running!

  7. I haven't worked on my A. I went through the oil pump on my bike and a tune up.

I have been pretty busy working on this old heap with a young guy who needed some guidance.

Maybe I'll get ambitious and weld a little bit on the A this afternoon.

Which one fedman? And if you sold the '32, does that mean you are keeping the '34 and finishing it now?:)

The 34 is going to Virginia, the 32 is still up for sale and the dragster is sold as well!
I am going to spend the winter ironing out some wrinkles on the 56 Chev, as well as cleaning/organizing my shop.
Next year Fedwoman and I are going to buy another finished car.:)

I adjusted the fuel pressure, corrected a ground problem on temp sending unit and started it up just to enjoy the sound.

Fabbed up an adapter to hang the 235 on the engine stand, mounted the oil pump, covered the bottom end up with some sheet metal to keep critters out of it, and looked at the pretty pistons and bores for awhile.

  21. On my '29 cabriolet, I got the top on in late August, Yesterday I hit 500 miles on the odometer, Today I re-torqued the four banger's head and put another 25 miles on her.
...and as usual, I am continuing to drive the '51 back and forth to my shop almost daily. I am still trying to track down an intermittent wildly fluctuating gas gauge problem on the '51.
