Wow! did I get a lecture today when the Missus found one of her bath towels in the shed being used for an oil change rag. Mind you I picked the oldest one in the cupboard. It was a bit ratty already, and she's only got about 2 dozen to choose from!
So what is the latest sacrifice you've made at the alter.......?

Ha,ha,ha,HA! Oh boy, have I used every thing inclouding the kitchen sink! Built a 65 Triumph 500cc in my closet, had the panhead in the front room, extra, extra!......Roach.
( I told her to "deal with it or your cut off!")

  4. Okay, the first set of 2bbl Rochesters i had that ended up on Rogues RPU were boiled out on our kitchen stove. Carla DID NOT LIKE THAT! I brew beer and she dug it better! Hell I could have a meth lab and she wouldnt be as pissed as she was that night.

  5. Don,t!HER favourite is when I go to the garage I,m s'posed to wear a complete different outfit. This gets real tired when your in and out doing stuff. We are talking change of shoes, drop the overalls, like every time!Needless to say she keeps catching me in the garage in my best tux and watching T.V. with the overalls on.She always finds it highly amusing.........@?~#!

  6. We currently have an A hood and sprint car wheel in the bedroom, an A grill shell in the spare room....not that happy.......worse is the rug that's now under the A in the garage....the biggest oil stain was put there when it was in the house!!!!! REALLY not happy!!
Do have a mate to waits till his wife goes out then cleans engine parts in the dish washer!!!!! thats a big one we have over him...now get me beer or I tell!

One 331 CID stroked 302 Ford small block. So far the machine shop has saved the heads (AFR 165's), the crank, and the rods. The block, pistons and cam are a lost cause. I'm hoping the brand new before install hardened pushrods, roller tappets, and roller rockers are still salvageable. That will save me about $650 US while Comp grinds me ANOTHER custom grind roller cam ($$$ ouch). But with the water in the oil (split cylinder a****st other things) and me not thinking to soak these items in fresh oil or kerosene maybe right after I pulled them.:( Hindsight is always better. Hopefully the roller bearings in those haven't rusted, and maybe if the gods of speed smile the pushrods will be the right length for the new cam (custom for the old one).

I got caught using the fabric sissors on cardboard templates....who new that they had $30 sissors? Got caught baking parts in the oven...

When A teen me mum went abroad for a few months to teach, me and the pops built a BBF MGA in the living room (no welding or grinding in the house, but it was a full ***embly....in the A/C...)

I got yelled at for redirecting the A/C into the garage....yeah something about blocking the house off and pumping all the delicious cold air in the garage peeved the wifie off...

that said...me wifie loves the cars, she even made a wall hanging out of a 49 chevy grill

I used to "cook" my headers in the oven after i coated em with VHT. The wife went nutzo. It does produce a god awfull smell which permeates the whole house, but thats Hot Rodding! Course i am NOT married any longer either........

I broke so many parts in one season of autocrossing that a couple of club members took some of the trashed parts and welded them together in the form of a trophy and presented me with the "Technical Excellence" award after I was presented my 2 cl*** championship trophys. In just that one season I took out 2 engine blocks, a crankshaft, a cylinder head, 3 camshafts, a flywheel, a lower control arm, a shock absorber, 2 wheels, a transmission, 2 clutches and a battery. At least that is all I can remember from that season. In the 20 odd years of racing since, there have been several engine blocks, crankshafts, heads, transmissions, clutches, wheels, rear end housings, body panels. Hell I even bent the steering wheel in my roadster beating on it after I turned the red light on at a national in Ennis.
If you persue speed long enough you will destroy parts.
I have been persuing speed a LONG time!

The sacrifices that I can think of offhand are

-no more black sharpie pens in the house
-good shears for the making of templates
    -countless towels
-doggie water bowl for cooling of parts from grinder
-ungodly amounts of fuel for parts chasin'
-she got accustomed to parts laying around, thank god
especially the freshly powered coated 17" Kelsey Hayes that I have
had in the dining room for the past 6 months.

I grenaded a set of spider gears out of a '57 Chevy rear. I thought those rears were supposed to be strong, but they sure didn't like the way I hammered second gear.

No pictures, but I blew the bottom out of several '39 Ford boxes back in the street racing days of the mid '60s. The best one spit the case out the front of the car at a stoplight and took out the Columbia rear at the same time.

I may have to get back to you on this one.

But here's the preliminary "offering" - we'll just have to see if the God's of speed will smile upon me or not.....time will tell.
