  2. When Dave recovered the rear seat in the wagon he added some extra padding and I dropped the seat to add the carpet to the back of the rear seat I punched 2 holes in the top of the seat where the pins hold it in place when the seat is down.

Thinking outside the box Dave came up with this combination guide and cover that hid the damage.

What you see here is a Onida spoon, there is another one on the passenger side also they actually look like something that would have been installed from the factory. HRP

  6. Another unique piece is the garb straps on each side of the car,the straps looked like crap with the bolt that held them in place and we started looking for something to give them a finished look and to hide the bolt.

I was digging around in the barn and ran across a piece of 1966 VW stainless running board trim,we just cut about 2" off each end and it had a natural wrap around area the we fed the material through,it worked out perfect.

You can see it in the circle. HRP

  8. the wire rack from an oven or an old fridge shelf, when placed on top of your shop garbage can makes a great place to scrape/clean parts. all the crud falls in the can.

That reminded me...years ago I used the hubcap from a Renault 8 as an airfilter top. Came with the center hole already drilled from the factory. :D

I found some 'classic' drawer pulls (5" long) at Lowe's. Not nearly as slick as your fry pans, but look pretty good.
Clever ex wife used most of the kitchen knives as screwdrivers and pry bars. Grrrr...

  16. When doing wiring, sometimes you wind up needing to rebuild the contacts in the light bulb sockets. Especially the ones made out of unobtainium. I have used the top off of new pop rivets (1/8" for example). They can be crimped on the end of the bare wire and used as new contacts.
The springs in some ballpoint pens can be cut down and used if the springs in your sockets are weak or missing.

I cut the sheet metal off an old file cabinet with an electric saw & used the metal sheets to make 2 door skins...then used the file drawer support braces for sturdy floorboard braces...nobody ever knew...till now!....I gotta look for options when money is tight sometimes:D
