Have YOU or someone YOU know successfully modified an Exhaust-Header that was manufactured to fit something else, to a Buick Nailhead 401 ? I DO NOT want block huggers, nor lake style headers, I want a "Inside the Chassis" style, just like what you would buy to put on your Camaro, Mustang, etc.,etc.. So in other words, IS there a "Exhaust port flange spread" that is diamensionally "Close" enough to the Nailhead, that with a Nailhead header flange, I could "Mate-Up" another set to fit. Thanks!
I looked high and low for just that. I have a couple of pairs of flanges. But alas http://www.taperformance.com/ has two different sets available. full length and 3/4. Prices seem reasonable to me... I'll be buying them.
I had flanges flame cut.(used exhaust gaskets for templates) then built onto them.the tubing etc... but your best bet is T/A performance. I've seen a couple motors with them.they look good and the quality is top notch
i know there is a guy here in huntsville alabama his shop is claonton muffler he built a really nice pair for a friend of mine not sure how much he charges but they looked great
It would be just as easy to just make them from parts your selve.I will bet Headers by Ed has all the parts flanges , tube ,that you will need .Kind of fun job too.
